Another song that is a novelty that will make you laugh is "The Streak" by Ray Stevens. BTW - taking off all your clothes and streaking was a fad for a time. In fact, when I was in high school, the principal's office had this large window facing the hall. One day this senior named Tommy Liberty (great name huh?) took all his clothes off and did jumping jacks in front of the window. Ah, those high school memories.

Fun Fact. Grandma is his actual grandma. She did the strip to surprise him. It worked. This song always reminds me of my grandma 85 birthday. She just sat in the corner. With the biggest smile. She wouldn't join in with all the games and dancing. Just kept smiling. Finally a few of asked her what she was smiling about. Her answer was priceless, "I'm smiling because everyone is here because I got laid a few times". We all died laughing and mortified at the same time.

There is no evidence that the woman was his actual grandma. I highly doubt his own grandma would stand there Full Monty in front of him. After she dove in he was clapping and laughing then dove in the pool as well.

One of my favorite country songs-------David Ball singing "Riding With Private Malone" is a song I hope you will put on your list. It was recorded in the basement of a house, with very few instruments, that made its way onto the radio air-play and was a hit! It is a very sweet song, and David Ball (who loved the song when he heard it) does a great job singing it. The video was made on a dime(low cost), and the person that portrays Private Malone just happens to be one of the songwriters, Thom Shepherd. I think it is a great country song (came out in 2001). ♥

Per Songfacts The Nashville songwriters Gary Hannan and John Wiggins wrote this song. When we spoke with Joe Nichols, he explained: "They wrote it on a cocktail napkin as they were getting drunk." Women in the audience have been known to get a little wild when Nichols performs this song. He's says various items of clothing sometimes end up off their bodies and onto the stage. "The most dangerous thing is when they throw their shoes up there," he says. "That hurts, man." This song mentions Bacardi - a type of rum; Smirnoff - a type of vodka; and Patron - a type of tequila.

My colleague lived not far from her favorite bar. She used to dance in her high heels but took them off after a while (no need to tell you why). Then came the tequila. She often went home barefoot. I'm a country songwriter and I remember in 08 having dinner with the writer of this song, Gary Hannan while he told me how he got the idea to write this song. He said almost every publisher in Nashville threw the demo in the trash without listening to any of it. The first publisher who actually listened pitched it to Joe Nichols and it was at number one on the country charts for over a month. That's what I love about country and why its so challenging to write. The "turn of phrase" is imperative when using a cliche like this one. "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" is one of the oldest "guy jokes." So Gary wrote the song about a woman who comically gets so clumsy she loses jackets, contacts etc when she drinks Tequila. It was brilliant. Also, thanks to my close friend and songwriting mentor Marc-Alan Barnette for inviting Gary to come to dinner when he saw Gary at a crosswalk. I'm really glad y'all did this one.

I haven't listened to much of his songs but heard this one, love it. I suspected it was about grandma.

Joe has a few songs that are great for listening too. My favorite is "i'll wait for you" but some other good ones are "brokenheartsville" and "Gimmie that girl"

I saw Joe Nichols in concert back in 2019 when he came to the city where I live. He sang this song.
