Love this channel, but really enjoyed the weight room analogy. Really helps put speed work into perspective for meatheads like myself

I keep commenting on these videos, the information is just too solid. Quick question again Coach, this upcoming season I’m playing like a LB/SS position. I’m essentially in the box but I have a lot of extra zone and man coverage responsibilities in our new defense. I’ve been working on my size and strength. Going from 200lbs to 215lbs so far, aiming to get up around 225lbs to 230lbs. I was wondering if I should keep focusing on strength, size, and power gains until April. Then switching over to speed, change of direction, and position specific drills until the season. Or do you think I should keep size and strength as my focus until June.

Question: Does the surface used for the drill matter, in terms of specificity? that is, if the athlete is playing on a grass surface, should they be doing these drills on grass as well?

Hey Coach, Biggest fan here from Brazil. A quick question about hill sprints, Would I have the same benefits if I did them on a treadmill? Do you recommend doing them on a incline treadmill?

Could you do something like this on a incline treadmill?

Just the sprint itself. The change of direction drills will not translate to a treadmill, unfortunately.

How often would you schedule this type of acceleration work into your programming?
@GarageStrength
3 жыл бұрын
This could be implemented about once a week or once every 2 weeks into an offseason program with majority of focus rest of week on strength building and technical refinement

Aren't these reps a bit too long? He's gonna get tired real quick and subsequent reps are not going to be done at maximal output (so it becomes more of a conditioning session).

@@GarageStrength see my comments above. Sometimes rest, other times DO NOT. You will lose temporarily in performance, but you will gain in metabolic superiority. And metabolic superiority --- not flash -- is what defines the lasting champions. They simply outlast everyone else at sustained peak through a better tuned athletic machinery.
