Love this, definitely need to stop over revving everytime i pause briefly on a hill. People must think i’m trying to wheelspin because i’m adding too much gas in fear of stalling

nice video! I am finding in this same situation: My driving instructor has a manual handbrake but my (husband's) car has automatic so I am a bit scared of how I will deal when I have to use our car 😅manual handbrake is so easy!

I dont understand, so do i use the 2nd method if I have an auto handbrake?? I passed my test 6 months ago and I am still really scared of starting uphill. sometime I move off smoothy but most of the time I stall and stucked in the mid of the road. I don't know what did I do right or wrong

If driving a normal hand brake car the the revs and clutch balance depends on the incline (steepness) of the hill. things have changed since i learnt to drive .... i'm now teaching my son and we repeat hill starts over and over again as well as reversing up hills, when you master the control of clutch and accelerator driving is so much easier. Nice vid

You don’t need the handbrake. Just hold the brake find the biting point then after come off the brake and the car will won’t roll back as long as you hold the bite from there use gas

It really is! Sometimes it helps not roll back but most of the time it helps to stall if they don't pause to wait for it to disengage 🙈

Personally, I'd recommend Francis keeping his hands on the steering wheel rather than talking with your hands. Be cautious if a kid runs out whilst filming because your attention certainly isn't on the road. It's been proven filming yourself like this, and talking to the camera is not good. Shannon unfortunately also talked with her hands and kept looking away from the road. Great video otherwise. The positivity of explanation was very good.

It's not occurred to me that instructor car has auto handbrake button and my car probably won't. Darn posh bsm cars! More lessons for me then 💸

My 1st instructor had switch hand break… she kept telling me to use it so I won’t roll back, but in my car it’s a manual hand break (it’s 2022 car too haha). But in my current instructors car, he has a manual so I know feel more confident on hills, thankfully😂 Hope that all makes sense!!

Thank you guys for this video, its really helpful. Ive learned in and only ever driven with a manual handbrake but might be looking at a newer car with electronic handbrake and the one thing that makes me nervous about it is the hill starts lol I live in a pretty hilly area and a manual handbrake is so handy for the steep hill starts. I didn't want to change cars and then stall on a hill haha embarrassing.

Older video but this has helped me not feel so bad😅 My instructors car is automatic handbrake and she doesn’t teach using the clutch to hold the car, so now practicing in my partners car with a manual handbrake plus high biting point I’m really struggling which is putting me off going out because I’m terrified I’ll roll back into a car behind or over rev and fly out of a junction because I struggle getting his bite quickly which makes me feel more rushed that I end up coming off too early/quickly. With instructor I’m doing dual carriageways, country roads, complicated roundabouts etc fairly confidently contrast to being a nervous wreck in an industrial estate struggling with basics in my partners car😫🥲
