For the record I believe Kenny and Joe joined the Hillsiders after Sonny Webb ( Kenny) and The Country Three split up after a failed Sunday audition at Ossie Wades Social Club, Walton Lane. I was the bass guitarist. We failed because of presentation and my improvised (converted) bass. Since those days you begin to notice the "Cheesey" grins ! I worked with Joe at Owen Owens store. Kenny's first stage name Sonny Webb came from - Sonny James and Webb Pierce. Kenny and Joe knew what they wanted and asked me to play "Walking bass" which I'd never heard of so they lent me a Carl Perkins LP. Then I could play walking bass. We definitely had an increasing leaning towards foot tapping country with some slower ballads thrown in for the Labour and socials clubs we played. Playing to Beatniks in The Ion Door Club , Temple Street (early sixties) was amaaazing. We even got a rebooking.! Happy Days - Happy Memories ................God Bless Kenny and Joe
