Sang e mah: WOW! What a twist. A check mate move by Hilmand. 😊No one thought it would be Hilmand, and not Hikmat firing at Gul Meena’s house. As the story is unfolding , the drama is becoming throughly enthralling, with beautiful natural terrain captured by good cinematography, strong characters and stellar performances and direction. Saw under water filming for the first time in a Pakistani drama. It has made itself a worthy watch after Parizaad. Ju bichar gai continues to impress. Even those with the smallest of roles are impeccable while performing. Sinf e ahan and Dobara continue to provide, rejuvenating, feel good entertainment. All these dramas making me proud of our drama industry. 👍

Sang-e-Mah: Hilmand tumne ekdum se waqt badal diya, halat badal diye, zindagi badal di 😆😆😆 Also from what I can anticipate about Zarghuna and Mastaan's equation, Mastaan possibly killed her husband (we see an altercation of a younger Mastaan with someone in the promos) and instead of getting him killed, Haji Marjaan convinced the Jirgah to sentence him to servitude to Zarghuna's family which is why he had to abandon Harshaali. The old Sikh Hakim (forgot his name) is probably Mastaan's father who hid the secret of Hilmand's father's death which is why Haji Marjaan saved Mastaan from death and Hilmand is constantly pursuing him to confess. It explains Zarghuna's hatred for Haji Marjaan and treating Mastaan as more of a "thing" PS what amazing chemistry with Kubra, in just those eyelocks. This show is setting great standards in tasteful romantic chemistry ❤️❤️

Hilmand's mother, Zarsangha, must have been a victim of "gugh", forcing her to marry the father of Hilmand, while she was actually in love with Marjan. Hence, her absolute acrimony towards anybody who practices gagh. The dilemma is way too dark and poignant that her own estranged son has done the very same act, to put his stepfather in a spot. This is the real irony of this act, that while it is done to settle scores with absolutely no thought or concern for the fate / life of the girl concerned. Again, another stellar example of how women continue to be commodities, anything but human!!

Being a student of social science, I want to share some views on JBG. As hassan stated in this segment that what were West Pakistanis thinking, let me share an interesting thing. The headline on the front page of Dawn paper of 17th Dec 1971 was that Yahya pledged war till victory (and on 16th Dec, Gen Niazi has already surrendered on the order of Yahya). So basically West Pakistanis were kept in dark till the very last moment, there was state-sponsored censorship on media, no alternative sources for information.

I don't think the 11th peer thing is meant to be that literal. The wars with the Sikhs happened in the 1700-1800s, so it's unlikely Hilmand's father was anywhere near there. I think Hilmand is philosophising about his father's tragedy that in a village that honours ten matyrs so much that its their identity completely ignores his father who was also matyred (in his eyes atleast- we don't know what happened)

Sorry to say, but Sinf-e-Aahan's screenplay is very typical. Umera Ahmed is a great writer for novels and screenplays of dramas like Alif, but whenever she writes a Military drama, it follows the same formula (little undermining of the protagonist by relatives, PMA typical bullying etc etc), As Saima Akram Chaudhry's every drama has the same mantra (Hero Heroine ki 90's Bollywood wali laraiyan, Dada Dadi, Amma Abba Chachu, Bachay aur Chota cousin). Sang-e-Mah's writing is far far more clever than Sinf-e-Aahan's writing. SEA has the same seedhi seedhi storyline, while Mustafa Afridi is out of the box in Sang-e-Mah, as he was in Ehd-e-Wafa.

I co founded a helpline for muslim DV victims here in the US and feel the networks in Pakistan must not be portraying so much of violence in almost all dramas, from child kidnapping and murder in ishq e la, to suicide in two other plays MH and QMK to forced weddings with gun fires in SEM to historic triggers in Army plays. Several survivors watch dramas as they are a firm of entertainment but climaxes are so triggering that a warning would help case managers to not let such dramas be encouraged. Thank you for bringing attention but please get every channel to label warnings in every episode. I’m surprised KZitem is not censoring or objecting.

JBG: What an amazing episode. Loved the visualization and the build up to the eventual shoot out. I got chills. It’s especially haunting for me, as Hassan and Aamna both keep touching on this, because several of my family members and close family friends were in East Bengal at the time. What JBG has shown, is accurate to the horror stories they’ve recounted. I know dramas are supposed to be entertaining, but topics like these require some prior research. History is written by the victors, and Bangladeshi’s have chosen to rewrite theirs to suit their narrative while Pakistani’s have decided to sweep it under the rug. At the end of the day, it affects all of us. I can only imagine the horrible things people of both sides had to witness. The whole thing was a carefully orchestrated chaotic mess that became something beyond everyone’s control. Sang e Mah: Love love love. Absolutely loved the twist. Kubra and Atif’s chemistry lit the screen on fire. It’s so refreshing to see intelligent anti hero’s. I can’t wait for what’s coming 🤩

I reckon Sang e Mah is a period piece since it features no mobile/cellphones, there are references to Russia, they show a very dated music player and by all accounts ‘ghagh’ isn’t even practiced anymore, yet they show Kubras character using a digital camera in this episode. Anachronism or lack of clarity on the time period? And how interesting is Hilamd’s character? Unfortunately our dramas feature one note male characters either as a chauvinistic, abusive alpha males or insipid , Beti humari izzat bacha lo type baap/chacha/dada. A lot of people decry stereotypical portrayal of women on our screens with little scope besides the virginal heroine or the evil, conniving vamp but no one talks of the total lack of imagination in the depiction of male characters. In this backdrop I love Helmand’s character for breaking all stereotypes and how!

JBG... This epi can be divided into two parts... 1. GhaziPur incidence 2. Condition of West Pakistanis in Bengal... And it was shown through Rumi and Sonia's conversation... Rumi has been shown as a revolutionary who doesnt want bloodshed... Ok... We got it since epi 3... Can anyone tell me what he is practically doing to stop all this mess... He is worried about his own family... But what he did to protect other people from this whole anarchy... And the convo bw Sonia and Rumi was very well written... But it was repititve for 100th time... From previous 3 to 4 epi They both are discussing same... Sonia taunting Rumi, Asking him why are u at home, Is there anything wrong, have they disowned you???And a same scilence on Rumi's side.... Nothing has been changed since epi 3... Plzzz Rumi do something practically... I find his scilence totally out of character.. He can lead a movement... He was shown as a person who can change the mind with his ability to deliver his words... And now he is shown as a man with no words... And promo of next epi suggests that he has taken his brother to meet prof Ajeet...Why he is doing it??? Does he not know how creepy is that prof??? Sorry Rumi is not understandable at all...

I think he’s assessing the situation…he can see that things are spiraling out of control…even his own people are slowly turning against him…when the tides are against you, then there isn’t much you can do but wait it out… But yeah, conversations between Rumi and Sonia are becoming a little repetitive…

@@sabahatmazhar6056 i think you’re right. I feel Rumi is in shock. He felt so strongly for what he stood for but he hasn’t thought it would turn out this way. He wanted rights but he didn’t want things to get so horribly aggressive. I feel he doesn’t know how to go about it and he gets a new shock every episode. The first time he went silent was when he realized that his people were getting aggressive. Then he told them not to create trouble but then heard them made fun behind his back. Slowly i feel he is realizing that things are getting out of his control and now the last episode he realizes that his family has come under the aggression as well.. all this he hadn’t expected. What I don’t understand is why he took his cousin to this professor in this next coming episode.. that is confusing to me that it still doesn’t separate himself from this professor.. is he in denial.. confused about that..

JBH: beautiful chemistry. Couldn't decide if Sonia should be with Capt Farukh or Roomi. As far as Hassan's ques about West Pakistan is concerned, I feel since they knew that Bengal has been asking for Bengali to become national language and other rights and weren't giving them, so they took these demands similarly where Bengalis will keep asking but even if they aren't given those rights, it's ok. Just by the way, a country can have multiple national languages. it is completely normal and a lot of countries have that. Moreover, because East Pakistan used to have a lot of floods, and West Pakistan used to help, by that time, they were thinking that it is such a trouble for them. Of course, there are ways to mitigate floods, but at that time Pakistan was poor plus where was spending done is also a question of priorities. Sinf e Ahan: I am waiting for Mahjabeen and Rabia's characters back story and why their friendship lost. They haven't shown any proper chat of these two characters here in PMA either yet. I think it has been pretty long, as they showed that back story in initial episodes, so the hook has been quite old. They should show something regarding it now. Capt Usman seems married to Kiran for at least 3/4 years as the kid is shown to be 6 years, and she only knows this person as father. So, I understand Kiran's internal battle and acceptance of loss, but 3 years is also quite a long time especially if you remarry and start living with someone. So, either they should have shown a recent death and then marriage or shown it as backstory of them as well. Thank you Aamna for Sinf e Ahan related info! :)) Sang e Maa: Ohhhhh Mannn, Love it! Each scene and frame. Excited to see how Hilmand and Sherzaat will fall in love with each other. You FORGOT TO MENTION AN IMP DIALOGUE of Zargona that: Gali me ane wali Kutte aur kehtun me ghusne wali ghdarun (jackels) k peche tu ese bagte ho, aur yahan koi Gagg/Hagg mar gya tum me se kiis ne nae roka ya pakra. Highlighting just the irony that a mother who is so against Hagg, stopped her one son, and now her very own 1st son has done that. Plus the punishment of Hagg seemed Death but that guy got that other punishment due to drinking. Hajji's love for Hilmand is visible by his eyes too. Zargona said to Hajji Marjan that you need to do Hajj every year, I don't have that many bad deeds is also interesting, waiting to see Hajji marjan's backstory too.

Ishq e Laa: Shanaya as Casper the friendly ghost, did not see this coming! Perhaps given how uppity a brat Azlan is, only her ghost could redeem him. Sang e ma: Brilliant, this Hamlet-like conflict between Hilmand and Haji Marjan is delicious. I couldn't help contrast Noman Ijaz and Sania Saeed's characters here with those in Sang e mar mar: almost polar opposites and how beautifully played. Sania is a beauty as the woman scorned, Samia M has such an effortless grace. Atif is doing a great job keeping Hilmand delightfully grey. The deadpan humour equating gheyraat w/ blood pressure, the writing simply shines. 😎 Hope he will reconcile with Marjan in the end. Looking forward to more of this tale to unfold.

JBG, everything is just exceptionally great. This episode was extremely thrilling yet painful. Those who belong to martyr's families are well aware of the history and good thing is it's documented now. War crimes always deliberately kept untold because that's what our politicians want from the history, under their lust and vicious desires there is always a tale of sufferings and blood hidden but it's time to give acknowledgment to those brave sons of this land who fought till the last drop of their blood. They were the finest.

Shehyar Munavar is a phenomenal actor. Loving the sisterhood in Sinf e Ahan. Mawra’s acting was 👌👌👌👌 in Mehr Bano. Noman Ijaz has met his worthy match in Atif Aslam. Ishq e Laa. I think the passionate arguments between Aksa & Azlan in the beginning were indicative that they will end up together. And Amna you are right. The hand scene was creepy. Reminded me of House on Amityville where in a scene the wife is sleeping and her dead husband puts his hand around her😱😱😱😱. I am following Jo Bichar gaey through your review. Not watching the drama but I have see many scenes and all actors are doing a great job.

I think he did it partly for Hikmat though (also of course to put Marjan Khan on a spot), because that would prevent Gulmina's mother from marrying her off, and stop Hikmat from making the mistake (of doing Ghag). Instead he took it on himself. I also noticed he fired two shots, not three. So I think he did this on purpose to create a loophole and later claim that he did not, in fact, do Ghag (since they mentioned the person fires thrice).

JBG: Hasan I remember my family talking about Saqoot-e-Dhaka and the discussions were around the fact that how things were down played in West Pakistan through media censorship and information blackouts. Very filtered and downplayed versions were given to the people here. People who had families in East Pakistan would report things to their relatives but these were considered unconfirmed news and to some extent even the West Pakistanis in East Pakistan were living in a false bubble that it is just agitation which will pass. Shabnam is the very accurate portrayal of the West Pakistani attitude towards all this. They never took it seriously, and when they did it was water under the bridges already. That is why so many West Pakistanis died there too. They could've been safely evacuated in a timely manner if Bhutto and Yahya and later Tikka Khan hadn't played games around such a serious situation. History books should hold them responsible for the fall of Dhakka.

I only have one problem from QMBK. They know what happened with Meherbano, but why isn't Mehran or her making an effort to contact the police. In this situation, no matter how traumatic, one should quickly tell the police to let them know your side of the story. He tried to burn her alive and she acted in self-defense, this should be documented, otherwise it would go against her.

Regardless, PLEASE skip it if you haven’t watched it yet and watch Parizaad, Dobara, ishq e laa, jo Bichar Gaye, sinf e ahan and/or sang e mah instead. Hum tv is killing it nowadays and some very rare ary and GEO dramas can be good as well. IMO Humayun’s ARY dramas >>>> Fahad’a ARY dramas. And you’ll rarely find a new drama by Abdullah kadwani/Asad Qureshi that’s actually sensible and doesn’t make you wanna break your tv. Their old dramas (pre 2017) were eons better.

Amna, I absolutely agree with you about the “Achilles heel” thing…”beating you will be an Achilles heel for us” is what was said and makes no sense. It was a glaring oversight in my opinion and embarrassing because they made it a point to show that Arzoo spoke English well and Nathmy was impressed by her ability to do so. If Arzoo had said it in passing we could think she misspoke and it wouldn’t matter but they highlighted it so 😑.
