My profession and curiosity has lead me to purchase several powered 12 volt screwdrivers. At least 7, I never overtax these tools because they aren’t designed what you did in your test. Thank you for the video and taking time to film it. But wouldn’t it be better to demonstrate more realistic tasks. I use these type of tools for low torque applications. They shine in that arena. Their size is major factor when getting I tight situations. Your tests proved torque. Many applications require finesse and control. If I want to drive lags or long screws I use an impact. Maybe it’s boring to some to watch the simple task of screwing small screws. But I do it everyday and all day. Thx again

My favorite 12 volt is the HILTI screwdriver. It’s small, super comfortable and ergonomics are great. Second is an old model white Makita 10.8 volt screwdriver which is over 12 years old. The Makita doesn’t have a battery indicator but is a great little tool. I have a Milwaukee screwdriver as well, bought 2014, brushed tool but is on the heavy side. Plenty of power , nice but prefer the other two much more. The first two have helped me for many years.

I had been eyeing the Makita 12v brushed screwdriver for a while as I also enjoy the various screwdrivers that are available. I saw your first video of the brushless Makita that you imported and of course I had to explore that avenue. I ended up ordering the Makita 18v brushless screwdriver and it arrived recently, so thank you for sharing the importing tip.

This is insane, I never knew these tools existed, and I’m a professional carpenter and woodworker. What caught my attention was the sound of the tool during operation. Before you started driving in the lags and spax, I was waiting for the sound of an impact driver (even though you specified it was not an impact). It sounds more like a drill driver, but quieter. I’m really curious to know how the internal components of this tool look. This video is exactly why I absolutely love your channel and why you’re the first “go-to” before I buy any tool. Thanks you so very much Dave!

@@ManCaverTools I was at a tool shop in Australia, just purchased a Makita heated jacket and they had the brushed version in the bargain bin for $30. Grabbed it without knowing anything about it, loved it then got the brushless version. Unlike their impact drivers banging away, over tightening and stripping screw heads the little 12v dominants. I'm looking at getting a 12v screwdriver. I liked watching this video as well as the dewalt one. I have a request though. Could you do a video comparing all 3? However, could you maybe focus on ergonomics, collet wobble, size, and build quality? Everybody on youtube does "Can it do it" power and speed videos. I think it would help you differentiate your video doing a comparison of those features. Also, I'm sure others are like me and looking to get a 12v screwdriver for more precision tasks where a drill is much too powerful and strips screws and over drives them. It would be cool if you could do more precise operations to showcase control that they have. I appreciate the videos man, keep it up. Thanks

You sound disappointed that the Makita beat the Hilti, LoL. FYI, I know that they're called screwdrivers in the States, but at least with the Makita, it uses the same motor/chassis as their 12v brushless drill (and hammer drill). The only difference is the chuck. BTW, the little hits on the lag bolts with the tools might impact (pun intended) results.

Good video but these are screwdrivers. Not impacts. A great test would be to test them screwing in screws into different types of material and different thicknesses. Real world for example. Screwing small screws into plastic to see if the clutches actually work. Taking equipment apart and reassembling it an seeing if they screw up the heads in any way. Great video's and I do like your content.

The Hilti's gave better fit and finish. They are also incredibly comfy. Makita is more like the Toyota of the tool world. Works excellent, but a bit tacky looking. I personally like the feel of the Hilti better, they got the entire ergonomics down. Makita is also excellent. These are both the top choices for 12V tools. Milwaukee probabaly has more power but is uncomfortable (just like Bosch with the bettery in handle) and a bit more mass production in quality. I don't recall DeWalt having a 12V driver only.

That's because Hilti is designed to be used all day every day. Hilti "failed" in test the device wasn't designed for. These are screwdrivers. What's really important to a professional is, All day comfort, For a cordless screwdriver controllability. Being able to screw things without tearing up the screw or the thing you are screwing into. Warranty. I can easily send it bac to be fixed. Volume. I own a company and I need 1000 of these. I deal directly with Hilti!!! Safety; The tool stops when its overloaded. This is very important. Kind of like a rev limiter on a car.
