This was helpful. I re-injured a previous labrum tear. This time it’s much worse. Originally I injured it doing aerial silk splits and this time while hiking. I’m typically a pretty active person. I’m currently unable to sit and unable to put any weight on my left leg. The being unable to sit adds so many more complications as I can’t get in and out of bed without assistance and a lot of pain. I’m also unable to get in and out of a car without assistance and a lot of pain or even sit in a car unless fully reclined. I am using a walker to get around my house. I am awaiting an appointment to talk with the orthopedic surgeon to see if surgery is an option (or even a good option) for me. This video helped. Helped me see that post op healing may be better than how I am currently doing. I’m going to try to get a prescription for that chiro therapy machine as putting ice on the area has helped but this seems much better.Thank you!

I am on day 3 post op and really wish that KZitem would place this kind of video higher up in the search results. No "do this simple exercise" etc, just you guys talking and discussing how things are going. I am already panicking over the time I spend in bed or on the couch. I am doing rehab exercises down on the floor 4 times per day and only have paracetamol and some other long lasting NSAID to help with the inflammation. It's crazy how much of a difference there can be for people in terms of pain, swelling etc. Anyways, I am rambling. Thank you so much for sharing this, I'll be looking at the rest of your videos too and just so that you know, it's extremely helpful and appreciated that you've done these videos!

Not really sure why I watched this video as I have just had my hip arthroscopy and am now in recovery. However, I did find it interesting to watch and to compare the differences between my UK surery and the US one. I had a labral tear fixed and my hp bone was smoothed out which took about 90 mins. I was kept in hospital overnight and after the operation my blood pressure and vitals were taken every 30 mins for quite a few hours. My legs were wrapped up in a device that alternatingly inflated every minute or so to restrict blood flow. I had them on for about 24hrs and this was supposd to help against the possibility of DVT and blood clots in the legs and lungs. I was given paracetamol and ibuprofen in hospital as well as Dihydrocodeine for the pain. I couldn’t move my leg at all for the first 5 hrs or so after surgery and it felt sore. At about 11:30 that night I was able to go to the loo with the aid of a nurse. The next day in hospital I met the physio who showed me how to use the crutches and how to get up and down stairs etc. I was also given soe gentle exersises to do for the first week with a scheduled meeting wiith a physio a week after the operation. My recovery has been good so far. After 5 days I am able to hobble around the house without crutches, although I am not really supposed to. In a few days I will visit my GP to see a nurse who will take out the three stitches in my leg, even though the stitches are dissolvable 🤷🏻♂️. I was given a grabber, like a litter picker, so that I can pick things off the floor and a 6” toilet booster seat to make the toiler higher for me so it is easier to sit down and stand up from it. I didn’t have a big bandage like you did on my leg. Just two small waterproof plasters covering the holes. Really surprised at how small they are but it means I can shower and wear normal clothes. It has been so nice to see you supporting each other and how your clear love for each other has got you through this. To those that are thinking or having it, do it as it really isn’t as bad as you think it will be. I have 6 weeks off work to recover so am looking forward to lots of rest and recovery.

I’m having arthroscopic labrum tear and ball joint shaving done in a few weeks. I’ve been having ever increasing pain every day for the past 6 months. I found out a month ago that I have a 1 to 2 inch tear from my oval shaped ball joint rubbing every time I bend. I’m excited to get the surgery and only deal with recovery pain rather than put up with constant pain and a hip replacement once I hit 40. This tear is probably some of the worst pain I’ve had and it’s gotten to the point where Advil simply makes it hurt less enough to be manageable. Thank you, I’m glad the video helped! Valan was told to do squeeze her butt muscles laying flat on your stomach, then on her back she would pull one leg up at a time (keeping the heel on the ground). Other than that, we don’t remember and it’s very specific to each person depending on what a physical therapist may prescribe. We wish you the best!

@@umit777. I was injured on the job. Tore the labrum in my hip and herniated my L-4. I still have swelling and pain in my hip. The hip bone is catching on the stitches causing it to lock and limits my range of motion. The reason they did the surgery on the labrum was in hope it would correct my back. I am back to work part time, doing therapy, and still experiencing bolts of pain in my back and down my leg. I refuse to give up and I refuse to lose hope. Curious to what grade her tear was. I just found you guys today, I was searching for any info on lbral repair as I will need this. My dx on mri is grade 4 cartilage injury and labral tear, bone to bone, joint effusion and acetabular cysts as well as osteocyte formation and located anterosuperior. Mouthful. I'm an active RN and can't walk normally and my daily life is a challenge with the pain and instability of my r hip. The things you use your hips for you really take for granted until you have this type of injury. Oh I received this injury while in the ocean, jumped up to avoid a wave and landed in a I guess "crab hole?" Back in july.... ~I thought it was sprained ligaments, something basic, that will just take time to heal...well it's December and only has gotten worse.

You kept staying on the pain medication like it maybe a problem. Wasn’t it prescribed for her to take? I understand that it may have been to strong and you had to take half… but the next day you mentioned her being on it again (which she is supposed to be) you said they gave her another form of pain medicine … how come you didn’t switch to that one? I am due to have the surgery and I was hoping you could give me some information on which pain medications/inflammatory meds worked but it seemed as if the norco was more of a issue for you in getting her off of it than letting me know if and how long it worked for pain. You just mentioned how many more days she should be on it and I think each day feels different so just 6 days post op is a bit early to be worried about when she should stop that medication. Are you worried about addiction ? I don’t mean any disrespect or trying to cause a argument I am just wondering how long did the half pill work for her? Thanks for the video! :)
@UltraTrailSteven

Valan is very anti pain medication. She has some family history of addiction, so she is very resistant to pain meds if she can manage it. She stopped with the pain medicine very soon, and was only on naproxen for the most part.
