Gangster rap u can claim who cares for that mindless negative garbage anyway but hip hop is a multi cultural movement and if it wasn't for all races playing an important part in a way wouldn't be what it is..... If it’s only bought by a black audience you hear they don’t want us to be successful so they ignore it. Why can’t we get commercials, why can’t we get endorsements? A black artist gets commercials, endorsements & even a cartoon for kids on the weekends, awesome right! Nope they run him out of the business for being a sellout. So it was a problem when there were no endorsements & commercials-then it was also a problem when there were endorsements & commercials. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Do what’s in your heart & ignore the bullshit you’re gonna get regardless! We are all the same, HUMAN period!

This will always be a complicated and relevant subject on multiple sides… black & brown kids enjoyed the culture, just for what it was. Jewish and white folk wanted to platform it, some exploited it for short term gain but still helped grow its outreach. The only race conversation that ever seemed silly to me in real-time was when Iggy Azalea got more Grammy nominations than any WOC in that particular year. When did hiphop care about a Grammy, then when talk turned about her race and if she should even be allowed to rap or succeed in the genre. Have confidence in the genre and it’s listeners.. That whole thing felt hypocritical and more about weird gate keeping. None of that was ever part of the open forum hiphop is about

Grammy is a form of validation. Will smith cried about the oscars because it meant he was validated by white people. I bet will smith and his boyish wife wouldnt attend bet awards but they cried over the white oscars being white ... Black people have always looked to white people for validation and when someone owned you, you tend to look to them for guidance even though they might not like you or hate you.

Hip hop isn't about black or white if it wasn't for multi cultural movement by a lot of races not just one race.... Gangster rap black people can have that if they want it as it's nothing to be proud of Eminem isn't someone hip hop would ever be proud of he's a battle rapper and a negative rapper at that...
