"Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do) is excellent. I think you will like it. It's from the soundtrack for the movie, "Arthur"

When he mentions the word "Canvas" in the chorus, it is not a reference to a painter's canvas. It is in reference to the canvas sails on a sailboat. It's those sails that catch the wind and propel the boat.

The sails on a sailboat are made of canvas. "if the wind is right you can sail away, find tranquility. Oh the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see"

The top is a 12 string guitar, and the bottom a standard 6 string. The 12 string is good for plucking notes with a fuller sound. Love this song.

Fabian!!! You get it! No need to add to your comments. Everything you said is what made this so great. All the different sections. Beep-boop-bop on the toms leading into the next phrase. Just the way Cross strums creates a picture in my mind of a sunset or looking out to the horizon from a boat. Just so mood-creating. The beautiful piano bridge (while a lot of writers don't even bother with a bridge. You caught it all. Oh, and the sparkling throughout makes it sound like something off "Finger Paintings," from Earl Klugh. Didja know this album won five Grammys? Want to hear something that moves, but is still embued with the dense orchestration Cross is known for? "Ride Like the Wind."

Christopher Cross is amazing! Thos is my favorite from him followed by "Ride like the Wind". An artist I really love and feel he doesn't get the love he deserves for how talented he is, is Jude Cole. You really need to checknout his video "Time for Letting go".

And what a stupid name that is! I feel embarrassed for the person who coined that term.
@ruthlafler5622
3 ай бұрын
@smallblockchevy1022 that term is the epitome of reverse snobbery. Critics (in all media) love to show off how deep they are by dissing anything that isn't gritty or tortured. But I see a lot of reaction videos, and it seems like the "softer" stuff (pop, soft rock, ballads, etc.) is the music that has lasted. What's wrong with music being pretty? And is it any easier to write pretty music? Does it take less skill? Less artistry?
