Fun fact: The singer wasn’t originally part of the original lineup. The guitarist/vocalist started the band after getting the idea from working in a maid cafe. I like Band Maid. I did some research on female metal bands from Japan and it turns out this has been a thing since around 2000. There are a ton of great metal bands in Japan. Now that you know this please check out Lovebites the song Shadowmaker. They are also all female but they sing in English, they've been at some European metal festivals and getting ready for a full European tour. They are heavier than Band Maid and they shed hard with two guitarists.

Congratulations on choosing Thrill, as your first reaction. It was their first music video and although the clothes are toned down now, they still predominantly wear maids outfits. They sound this good live. Like BabyMetal, the live performance are excellent. Band Maid have a fantastic catalogue of songs for you to react to, if you wish? Here is an example. Secret My Lips: kzitem.info/news/bejne/koyryZVtj19meJg This is from a live show but studio audio or mixing desk audio is used for the video. A good music video is, Don't Let Me down. It is sung in English but is difficult to tell and the lyrics are surprising. kzitem.info/news/bejne/kY993YmeoGSJgaA You will get many recommendations for Dice. It is a good song but from their most recent CD so it's up to you as to whether you try and roughly follow the timeline of releases or just chop and change as songs get recommended.

Yo Alex! In general Japan really has some awesome Metal / Rock bands, I would also suggest: The Gazette - "Falling" and "Ugly" for their newer sound, "Filth In The Beauty" for older stuff Girugamesh - unfortunately disbanded in 2016, but their amazing music such as "Chimera", "Drain" and "Break Down" is timeless Coldrain - singer is half-american, so all their lyrics are in English... "Envy", "No Escape" and "Wrong" That's it for now, I'm certainly able to give you a few other recommendations in future! :D Keep it up! \m/

I only found these girls a few weeks ago. Band-Maid is my first iTunes purchase EVER. For those that say Rock is dead, they are wrong. It just moved to Japan and wears French Maid outfits. And prom dresses, and jeans and t-shirts and a whole range of outfits. I swear, the Japanese are killing it when it comes to hard rock and metal right now. And the bands seem to be dominated by women. This is a serious rabbit hole. Just yesterday I clicked on Bridear "Ignite" and OMG! I have no idea how it is Japanese girls got guitars and rock instruments, but however it happened it is the best thing ever! For Band-Maid, check out the live versions of their stuff. It is amazing. Thrill is arguably one of the "weaker" songs. Real Existence is the best one to have a video off that album. The rest of the album is at least as good as Thrill. The two albums since "Bring it," and "Domination" are even better (The drummer is amazing, and she gets noticeably better in each successive album) Other people have already listed a number of related bands (Aldious, Doll$Boxx, Lovebites, Bridear and MANY others). You should check them all out.

Scroll the comments. You will see one song a bunch. DICE. The original video is fantastic but the live version is nuclear. TRY DICE!

You should listen Dice is one of my favorite Band Maid songs from this year album . What about a reaction of a song by Gyze if you want to go more into the Japanese metal scene.

Appreciate you choose all those different styles. Time for some technical metal. ALLEGAEON: PROPONENT FOR SENTIENCE III THE EXTERMINATION. High class metal. A good mix of growling and high class singing. 8string guitars wizardry. They use all strings with soloing actually. Not every guitarist does/could do so. Give it a try. Major Goosebumps.

The bassist is great. When they were coming to San Fransisco they asked her what was the first thing that came to mind when mentioning San Fransisco and with a expressionless face she just said "Alcatraz State Penitentiary". Left the interviewer speechless.

Not what i was expecting, but not that bad, i like Japanese, amazing voice, great music, good solo. Thumbs up for your reaction video, you are so positive about everything, and that makes my day better. This weird but good songs and videos might blow you away : The Birthday Massacre - In The Dark, and Billy Talent - Fallen Leaves, these are the ones you never reacted to. Enjoy!!!

I just found out about them today. Apparently they came up on my KZitem mix one day while I wasn't paying attention to it, because KZitem said I already watched it all. Or maybe my fiance was secretly listening to them. But yeah, this was my same reaction when I saw this video. But the thing that I kinda like - or maybe I don't, I dunno - is that they don't stick to one single genre. One of my buddies insists rock bands gotta keep all their songs rock, yet BAND-MAID ranges from metal to uppy J-pop to quiet, mellow songs. In a way, they're very much like Eisbrecher/Megaherz and Rammstein in that you go in expecting each song to sound a certain way, but then they throw a few songs at you that are completely different -- and I'm okay with that.

Apparently the guitarist is a fan of Carlos Santana so it would make sense she'd want to have her shred skills up to snuff.
