This was the only time I really felt bad for the monkey. Her using the spectre to both toy with and torture him was a little much. Hearing his high pitched squeals and whimpers of fear was also unnerving. She just smiles, shakes her head, and says “Stop whimpering.” Damn. That’s cold blooded. He’s literally in an abusive relationship that he can’t leave.

It's especially fudged up whenever you remember that the monkey is literally her and whenever one feels pain or an emotion the other feels it too. So her tormenting the monkey is a form of self-harm.

This is why I don't trust Lyra with her. If this is how she treats herself I can't imagine what she would do to lyra

@@MiamayaJones Not just Lyra but no one is safe with or around her. Ever since this show started people have been trying to sympathize with her and justify her abusive, controlling, manipulative behavior and they just cannot bring themselves to admit the painfully obvious which is that she is just an evil woman. Everything she does is in the service of herself and for her own self-gratification.

I felt more sorry for the bird whom the monkey was forced to feed to the spectre.

@@xyPERSON the thing is. Evil people are more than just evil people. She is complex. I'm not saying what she I'd doing is right. It's fascinating to see how she interacts with people and things she cares about. I wouldn't say she is selfish. People like her are made by being raised in a very bad environment. She just didn't come out the womb evil. I think in her mind she wants Lyra to be successful. What her definition is of success I'm not sure. Who is an evil/ more selfish than Mrs. Coulter is her actual father. I think everyone makes the excuse that he has a greater calling. But in all reality he just chose to not take care of or care for his child
