Thanks Mark! My first quarter TBR is almost complete. Not sure what I'll read for the 500-1500 time period, but there's lots of material out there - especially in the Arab science world.

I'm going to read 4 histories, at least, this year, so will read along. It will be good to read pre-history, as I have read little in this area. I'm excited about this read-Anthony.

That's great! I've got the Mystery Cults in the Ancient World, and Hatshepsut for quarter 1 on deck. I'm tempted to pick up a book on Mesoamerica too. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on your selected reads in the new year :)

This sounds so fun! I've got several books that I can read for this on my shelf. At the very least, for January, I'd like to dig into some of the ancient biographies of Plutarch and Suetonius.

Great video, Fred. One of the things I'm looking forward to is the diversity: so many people from different backgrounds and interests. We're bound to all learn so much next year, and I'm here for it. I'm so glad you're involved!

Fred I've just to the part where you say you didn't know there was an English Revolution. I would definitely recommend you read up on the English Civil War - amazing, interesting, endlessly fascinating time with all sorts of political ideas being banded about by the middle class and various groups in the underclass. It was one of the areas I covered in my final paper for my History degree. Anyway, great video mate.

I thought it might be interesting especially as it might not be as "well known" as other parts of history for Americans?

I took note of your book choice for the Middle Ages. I'm still trying to decide what to read for that time period. It may depend partly on availability and price, but I'd also like to have something with a high readability factor.

Yup, I had to read Animal Farm and 1984 in high school - both were depressing. Re-reading both Orwell novels as part of my dive into classic(ish) literature in the new year. Oh, and of course reading history throughout the year :)

The "English Revolution" of the 17th Century is usually called the "English Civil War" but is better called "The Wars of the Three Kingdoms"

Good to know. I really don't know much about English history (though I'm very good at Classic Doctor Who history - lol, doesn't count for this event :) ). Looking forward to learning from others :)

I believe that people will be uploading their "pile of possibilities" in the coming weeks. To be honest though, look at what you enjoy and explore it's history/origin. Based on your channel, you may want to explore the origin of tarot (around the 1400s), or how far back mythopoetic thought goes - both are a part of our human history, so both count. :)
