Tyler, you are a terrific historian. I lived in Germantown for several years, loved the old buildings, the history of Philadelphia. City of Brotherly Love

I grew up in Germantown. I used to walk past most of the sites you focused on. I lived across the street from Grumblethorpe. In the house where the assassin shot from, in the basement, the first Lutheran Bible was printed.(Germantown Ave. and Queen La.

If you check your history a little deeper I think you will learn that when the Germantown City Hall was built it was not part of the city of Philadelphia. Part of the county yes but outside the city. It was not until sometime in the 1940s or 1950s the the city and the county became the same area. There were quite a few small towns that became part of Philly. Germantown was one as was Roxborough and others. Good series. As a native of the Roxborough area I am enjoying it

Most blessed sacrament parish. The school itself now a charter school. During the 1950s and 60s the students enrollment was over 3000. The largest enrollment in the world. 56th Chester avenue. Septa route 13 trolley going past the church. The church is still there.
