Hollenbeck and Linda Vista is the adaptive re-use of a hospital that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, located in eastern Los Angeles. The original hospital and nurses buildings were converted to affordable apartments for seniors by the noted architecture firm, Killefer Flammang.
Funds from the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program were allocated from the Los Angeles Housing Department to fund the foreclosed property, and Historic and Low-Income Housing Tax credits were awarded.
The site is located near bus lines and the Gold Line light rail, Hollenbeck Park, and a market.
Amenities include large community rooms with computer labs and patios with shaded seating and barbecue areas.
This video was filmed during and after the rehab work by noted filmmaker James Carroll.
