There are lots of funny stories about that guy😂 But I don't like him because of this story: when the soldiers of his greatest enemy were hunting him, he tried to run away in a cart driven by a loyal guard, while his daughter and son sit with him. He literally kicked both of his children out of the cart, so that the cart would run faster with less weight. Yet the guard kept bringing those kids back to the cart, so he kicked them out again, he repeated doing this three times before he finally gave up trying.

The version I heard is that the trip was delayed due to extreme weather, and of course some prisoners took advantage of this and escaped. It’s a death penalty for everyone back then. On the top of that, there were already some rebellions elsewhere, so the guard simply decided to give it a try. He was in his 40s or 50s at the time.

You need to understand that ancient Buddhist monks were not required to pay taxes and corvee, and because of their beliefs, many people would donate large amounts of property to the monks, which would be turned into land. As a result, Buddhist monks in ancient China generally owned land that did not need to pay taxes, and this situation would largely become the direct cause of the collapse of ancient dynasties. In order to rule, the Lord would generally loot the temple when the land acquisition was serious. This is actually a practical reason, on the other hand, many temples sometimes even set up their own armed forces, which can lead to some rebellions and wars

3:12 Actually, Goguryeo was not Korea. The modern Korea (including North and South) has only a little little little something to do with Goguryeo, you will find more descendants of Goguryeo in modern China, as Goguryeo was more related with Mongol and Manchu. The ancestors of modern Korea were Samhan (Byeonhan, Jinhan, Mahan), and later Gaya, Baekje, Silla.

Hello. First of all, I enjoyed your video. I'll leave my like, and subscribe your channel for show my support. I generally agree about your video, but I would like to raise an objection in the Great Wall description section. It is the distortion of China's history that the Great Wall of China depicts as if it existed beyond Liaohe. The Great Wall ends at a Shanhai Pass near Beijing. The Great Wall in the east of Liaohe is not the Great Wall of China. It is the Great Wall of Goguryeo. It is not even shaped like the Great Wall, but an organic defense facility made up of several scattered fortresses.
@user-hm9gy9vy6n
2 ай бұрын
Goguryeo fought a fierce 70-year war against a formidable army of unified China, defending itself from terrifying attacks by the Sui and Tang empires several times with this organic defense system. The Sui Dynasty attacked Goguryeo beyond Liaohe with a million troops, but failed to capture any castle and lost 300,000 elite soldiers to General Eulji Mundeok on the Cheongcheon River. Lee Se-min, one of the best monarchs of the Tang Dynasty, could not break the castle of Ansi, one of Goguryeo's great walls, and ran away after losing his imposing expeditionary forces by General Yeon Gaesomun's army, and he fabricated his own history books for mental self-defense because he was ashamed that he had been defeated by Goguryeo's army, which he regarded as barbarians.
