After the occupation of the British Empire on the subcontinent, the British discovered many places and developed them and managed their accommodation. Since the British came from cold regions, the heat here was beyond their tolerance, so they looked for cool places in the subcontinent, which were mostly in the mountains. After that, roads were made and roads were taken up to it. Administrative offices, residential houses, recreation centers, playgrounds, sanatoriums for sick soldiers, laundries and other amenities were arranged at these places. Servant quarters were allotted there by hiring the locals which gave employment to the locals and started a new journey of development of these areas.Among the hill stations settled by the British are Srinagar, Murree, Ooty, Ziarat, Leh, Abbottabad, Pahalgam, Skesar, Shillong, Mussoorie, Nithia Gali and Fort Munro.
Fort Munro, also known as "Taman Laghari" in Balochi language, is located in the extreme western corner of Dera Ghazi Khan district at the junction of Balochistan and Punjab. At 6,470 feet (1,970 m) above sea level, the site was discovered in the late 19th century by British military officer Sir Robert Groves Sandeman and named after the then Commissioner of the Camp Division, Colonel AA Munro. was#fortmunro #history #pakistan #punjab #documentary#dgkhan
