The Gala-Gala cave was built by a jero Mangku Dalang named Mangku Byasa in 1961 and its construction took approximately 11 years. In addition to work as a farmer, Mangku Byasa is also a recluse, so this cave also became one of the hermitage.
The development process of this cave is quite unique and traditional because it still uses traditional equipment such as crowbar and assisted with dough dung duck that is burned and powerful enough to soften limestone so it becomes more easily excavated.
To go to the cave there are 3 entrances that we can choose. In this cave the height of the door and the roof is only about 1 to 2 meters only, so we have to duck to avoid the impact on the head. There are several rooms that we can find in caves such as meditation room, bedroom, living room, kitchen and well.
