From what I do know about bosnia's conversion to islam is that it was primarily not forceful or political but actually theological in nature. 40.000 illyriano-slavic families in central bosnia converted to islam during Sultan Mehmet II El Fatih's visit in which he supposedly addressed bosnians in their own language, which is very unique and outlying case to have ever happened and the inclinations to convert were due to how bosnian specific church was more in practice similiar to islam than to western or eastern practices, it was gnostic, it was rejecting divinity of jesus, praying 5 times a day, rejecting sainthood of clergy etc

As Bosniak, Bosnian muslim, must tell you it's ridiculous! It's a myth! 40 thousand family converted in front of Sultan is a lie! It's true that Bosnia became Muslim majority because of Bosnian church, but also because at the time when Ottoman came in Bosnia was established first or second generation of Catholics or members of Bosnian church who were forced to become Catholics, and because they knew that their fathers or themselves were forced to became Catholics as revolt they converted to Islam! Anyway it wasn't quick process!

@@nahumhabte6210 the Jizya, the non Muslim tax in Muslim empires was *far less* than *Zekat or Muslim Tax.* So it was highly discouraging for the non Muslim to become a Muslim since due to his conversion, he'd be paying more money to the government. I can't get the source due to the YT restrictions but you can do your own research. Seriously, the Greece was under Ottoman's rule. If there was forceful conversion, how come they are Christian country today? How come there were non Muslims in Bosnia during the Ottomans? It makes no sense for forceful conversion if you won't convert every single one of them and that would basically go against the No compulsion in Faith in Qur'an and yet again, who'd be paying Jizya? At the end, if there was forceful conversion, wouldn't these Bosnians revert back to their old religions *After the fall of Ottomans?* As we can see the spread of Islam today in Europe without Seljuks and Ottomans nor any Muslim rule in Europe. @@LARESCIV it was even greater than that since Bosnians and Turks have *special relationship.* Croats and Serbs were doing massacres of Bosnian Bogumils to convert them to Christianity and That's where the Turks came to save Bosnia. From the architecture of a masjid, Islamic clothing, eg Europeanized hijabs etc can have monumental impact on the locals than people actually realize, it speeds up the dawah and cultural acceptance from the local population. This topic was recently brought up by Abduraheem Green in a recent interview he had, coincidentally a lot of churcj buildings have been converted to mosques. @@jantheslovakmuslim it was called Bogumilism or Krstjans or the real interpretation of Christianity by Bosnian people calling Pope for threatening with crusade for heresy. That's why Bosnian Kings crowned seemingly under Christian trinity while practicing Bogumilism in secrecy. It's extremely similar to Islam because it stemmed from some form of Zoroastrianism, passed by missionaries through modern Bulgaria to the territories of modern day Bosnia and Serbia and even Croatia. You can find these areas *covered* in Stechak or Bogumil grave stones. Bogumilism was a Dualist Faith in its core, the entire world is made by the devil while the kingdom of God was the hereafter. They flatly *rejected* trinity as they memorised the holy scriptures. The Byzantium and the Roman empire wanted to baptise them and boy they baptised them by swords. There are no slavs, all our archaeological artefacts point to the *Illyrian Origins* of the Balkan people. The traditional 'Muslim Bosniak' clothing resembles the ancient Illyrian clothing: *Now you know why traditional clothing of all Balkan people are similar, especially the caps.* The serbs are actual Eastern Illyrians brainwashed by Byzantium to spread Christianity on Balkan. While Rome took Western Illyrians or croats to do Catholic biding. Read about Bato and his upheaval against the Roman empire or Illyrian Revolt. When you look at the map, Bato Desidiates and his tribe, Desidiates were based in territory of modern Dan Bosnian City of Busovacha, Central Bosnia. Yes, Bosnians are the *Central Illyrians.* The name slav is the name given by Byzantium for all the people living from Danube to Dnieper river; basically another name for Europeans. Just like the name Persian for Iranians; but no Iranian likes to call himself Persian since It's the name given to them by foreigners. So that's the Bosnian History in short. Selam Alejkum,

Dear friend you need to understand one thing about Bosnia. Through it's entire history Bosnia has been on a border between eastern and western powers and forces. Most notable are Western and Eastern Roman Empires i.e. on border between Catholic and Orthodox Christians. Both of them wanted Bosnia for themselves but Bosniaks were always something else, something for their own. They had their own Bosnian Church that was independent of and considered heretical by both the Catholic and the Eastern Orthodox. Bosniaks simply didn't want to be neither Chatolic neither Orthodox and there was a constant conflict on that border between Catholics and Orthodox. Finally when Ottomans came to Bosnia and brought Islam with them, Bosniaks and Bosnian Church collectively and voluntary accepted Islam. That made Catholic and Orthodox neighbours even angrier and they never accepted that and until this day all of them want to wipe and exterminate Muslim Bosniaks from Balkans and Europe. I hope you can see a picture bit clearer now. Selam from Sarajevo ;)

One question that got my attention is the Arabic language part. It is amazing how the Imarat system (Sorry if the spelling is incorrect) where the Ottoman build a complex with all the facility is very much the same when Islam arrived in South East Asia. When Islam arrived in Nusantara (Malaysian, Indonesia, Brunei and Philippine) it enters through the King at time. The King change their title to Sultan and used their castle as a complex to exchange Islamic knowledge and other knowledge. So the Sultan and his people at that time are very much close I can say. Thank you for sharing this. 🙂👍

Bosniaks are an intrinsically modern and open nation and always have been. About 10 years ago a study was presented in Sweden which showed that the ''refugees from former Yugoslavia'' (most of them Bosniaks obviously) were the most succesful ethnic population in Sweden; including the Swedes themselves. Open, modern, quick to adapt to new circumstances, accept new good ideas when presented with them. They would thrive as a country and nation, but for ''elements poisoning the waters'' so to speak.

I'm in the middle of this video, but I noticed something that I disagreed with and feel compelled to address. The idea that Bosnians didn't have a national identity until the 19th century simply isn't borne out by the facts. A region referred to as Bosnia is attested to in Roman documents going back to the 10th century, and a Bosnian Kingdom was established in 1377. In addition to the well-documented political history, the people of Bosnia had their own native and distinct culture. The Bosnians had not only their own alphabet (Bosancica), but their own church as well. With regard to "Crkva Bosanska" (the Bosnian Church), some refer to it as something akin to a Bogumil sect, whereas others suggest it was something purely autochthonous and somewhat of a response to and rejection of official Catholic/Papal doctrine and authority, while also distancing itself from the Orthodox church and it's doctrine as well).... The theory goes that finding itself "between" Catholicism to the west and Orthodoxy to the east, the medieval Bosnians already felt distinct and Other, and were thus ripe subjects for not only a new doctrine, but a wholly new religion -- which is why they converted in greater numbers than their neighbors. Especially when one considers precisely how Bosnian Church doctrine differed from Catholic and Orthodox doctrine -- among numerous beliefs and practices labeled heretical by Catholic and Orthodox authorities, the Bosnian Church is believed to have adhered to a belief in a purely human Jesus, one who was not God but nevertheless a revered and anointed spiritual figure. This belief would make it easier for the Bosnians to ultimately accept Islam, as in Islam Jesus is a revered prophet, but ultimately nevertheless nothing more than a human being. This is a gross simplification of the respective religions' beliefs and explanation for why the Bosnians converted in large(r) numbers to Islam, but it helps establish a basic understanding for why history unfolded the way it did. Sorry to be nit-picky, but getting facts wrong about Bosnia's establishment and political/cultural development can have particularly unfortunate and politically dangerous consequences, given the recent efforts to exterminate Bosnians and erase their history (this is what is referred to as genocide). It is imperative to establish solid factual bases when discussing Bosnia and its peoples, otherwise we leave open the door to a sort of historical revisionism that seeks to carry out an ethnic cleansing of the informational (because I'm loathe to call it "intellectual") realm.

Main reason why majority of Bosniaks accepted the religion of Islam was its location during the two main powers Western and Eastern Church Rome and Constantinople, which pressured everyone in region to undergo the conversion or claiming alliance to respective power, while Bosniaks were Bogomils which was official religion of the Bosnian Kingdom at the time, a sect of Christianity which did not except the centralization of religion, such as Vatican and Constantinople being religious centers and governed by them, Bogomils did not accept Jesus as God or divine figure. Due to that fact both Vatican and Constantinople were considering them as Heretics and wanted to perform mass conversion into respective religions, but before they had a chance to do that, because Bosniaks were practicing Bogomil religion in secrecy and were accused of heresy and threatened to be overrun by church and crusaders, Ottomans started their campaign to conquer the Europe and were "saved" them (they have executed the king of Bosnia at the time and took control of whole kingdom)and religion that they brought, Islam, was much closer to their own belief with excepting Muhammed as last prophet. Of course, there were other incentives that conversion was bringing to the locals as not paying Jizya owning of the land and becoming officials in local government and protection from Sultanate. But yeah, it was relatively quick process in comparison with other regions and religions at the time.

Bosnia has deep continuity of monotheism from (early unit(arian) christianity, schism, medieval heresy to Islam). Roots of Bosnian church might date since Arius, when him and his followers were deposed and exiled into Illyricum on June 19, 325 as aftermath of Nicene Creed. (center of Illyricum is present mountainous Bosnia) Later on, his belief was supported by Illyrian Arian bishops of late 4th c. (Palladius and Secundianus), contemporaries of Wulfilla - Gothic Arian bishop. Ostrogothic kingdom rooted Gothic christianity all over present Bosnian territory, and left us witnessing today Arian basilica ruins. Official heretical Bosnian church in medieval period fused Arianism, eastern Manicheanism, Dualism, Paulicianism and western Catharism, Patarenism as opposition to Vatican and Constantinopole. At the end, complex interior political clash of Bosnian kingdom nobility, religious similarities, non forced conversion and ottoman sympathies resulted conquest of Bosnia without conflict. Its known that even tens of years before official conquest 1463, Ottomans were called for support by noble families (Kosača, Hranić, Pavlović (Radinović), Kovačević, Hrvatinić) who fought against Hungary and Vatican (Battle of Doboj 1415). So that might be one of reason why Bosniaks see Ottomans as protectors against its own forced catholic convert (last king) Stjepan Tomašević, who converted thousands of Bosniaks to Catholicism, and left many to seek protection in exile in opponents land - noble Herceg Stjepan Kosača in Hercegovina, who called Ottomans for help and further intervention for conquest.

They were boycotted both socially and economically and their church were attacked by western (under the Pope's influence) On the contrary they found that Central Asian, mostly Muslims, were living with them in such harmony especially in trade that gradually they found them to be people of practicality... That led them to even enter into understanding of Islam and embrace it even way before the coming of the Ottomans. There are some KZitem videos that showed that, and some other records in the web...
