Every 3rd of June, pilgrims from all over the world come to Uganda by either air, road or trek on foot to visit Namugongo martyrs shrines to celebrate the lives of 25 young men who were martyred because of Christianity.
The 13 Anglicans and 12 Catholics were burnt to ashes at the command of Kabaka Muwanga in Namugongo on 3rd June 1886.
The place that was used as an execution site for those who disobeyed the Kabaka of Buganda has now turned into a place of worship for all nations.
In our series of Namugongo special, our senior reporter Agness Nandutu brings the history of Namugongo Martyrs shrines
