"Bugs Bunny made his official debut in the 1944 short Buckaroo Bugs." That could not be further from the truth. The Bugs prototype first appeared in 1938's "Porky's Hare Hunt" and made his official debut in 1940's "A Wild Hare." Bugs had many shorts out before 1944 and was an established star.

Ok, Bosko did not "leave" because of a "copyright dispute". Bosko's creators Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising were always at odds with producer Leon Schlesinger because their cartoons always ran over budget. In order to avoid the same fate Walt Disney faced when he lost the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Harman and Ising took the rights to Bosko over to MGM in 1934 and created a few cartoons in his original appearance before being redesigned and discontinued in the late 30's. That same year, Leon Schlesinger, along with other non-Disney cartoon studios such as Screen Gems (Columbia), Walter Lantz (Universal), Van Beuren (RKO Radio) and Fleischer (Paramount) started using the Cinecolor and 2-strip Technicolor processes in order to compete with Disney's Silly Symphonies being made in Technicolor, which Disney held exclusive rights to. Until 1943, only the Merrie Melodies were made in color while the Looney Tunes, which mainly starred Porky Pig, Beans the Cat Gabby Goat, and later, Daffy Duck, would stay in black and white in order to save money during the Depression and WWII. And for the record, Bugs Bunny's debut was NOT "Buckaroo Bugs" (1944). In fact, I personally think his first appearance is a subject of debate, though most people would say "A Wild Hare" (1940) firmly established his persona. I know this is supposed to be a short video, but NOT ONCE did they mention the contributions the shorts made for the war effort, or the Private Snafu cartoons being produced by the WB staff for the US Army. Also, they seemed to have ignored the 1950's, which I think is the Second Golden Age of Looney Tunes, where Chuck Jones made numerous bona fide masterpieces such as What's Opera, Doc?, Duck Amuck, and One Froggy Evening. However, I'm glad they skipped over the Rudy Larriva and Seven Arts shorts.

+Hernan Hernandez: Plus, alongside Bugs, Michigan J. Frog ("Hello My Baby" & "Michigan Rag") became a defacto mascot when _Looney Tunes_ briefly moved to the restructuring Nickelodeon [formerly Pinwheel] in the early 90's before it, _Animaniacs_ & _Batman: The Animated Series_ (both on FOX previously), _Tiny Toon Adventures_ (made before _Animaniacs_ but didn't leave Nickelodeon right away), etc. all found their semi-permanent home on the Kid's WB station owned by parent company Time-Warner, and on the Kid's WB bumpers, Michigan J. Frog remained the mascot and even tossed shade at former show owner FOX with the nickname "20th-Century Frog" (later reused by Jim Henson's Kermit the Frog as an in-joke).

I get the confusion regarding Bugs' debut. Yes, Bugs didn't made his official overall debut in 1944's "Buckaroo Bugs", but that was just his first official cartoon under the "Looney Tunes" name specifically. It was *"Merrie Melodies"* where Bugs officially debuted in 1940's "A Wild Hare". Yeah, those idiots at WatchMojo should take proofreading lessons.

They were the same after 1938, when the Merrie Melodies no longer had to include a WB-owned song in each cartoon. The only difference between MM and LT between 1938 and 1943 was that the LT series was in black & white. After '43, the only difference was the theme song.

No, because before Buckaroo Bugs, all Bugs Bunny cartoons were Merrie Melodies cartoons. WB cartoons began as two separate series, with their own modus operandi and musical openings (Looney Tunes had "The Merry-go-round Broke Down" and Merrie Melodies theme was "Merrily We Roll Along"). Beginning in 1934 all MM cartoons were in color, but LT titles were in black and white until 1942. After that, the only real difference between them were the opening and closing themes.
