Doug, thanks for changing my approach to the game. Helping me understand that's it's about working on your game and exercising what you've practiced, while also learning from the data of the implementation of what you've worked one. I now also do my best to analyze other people's plays and try to understand why or why not their approach is sound. I am doing my best to build a sound strategy that is +ev over a wide sample and being mindful of bankroll management. Those are just a few of the really amazing concepts you helped me understand about the game and I look forward to more of your content. You are great for poker.

That'd be cool if they started testing out tournaments that are basically "X" game, but with a twist. They can reveal the twist months before the tournament or just before the start of the tournament. Ex: NLH tournament where everyone is dealt 3 cards but must discard 1 card after the flop. Or, NLH, but deuces are wild. If the twist isn't too radical or confusing, I think super rec players would be psyched on it cause it's still within their comfort zone. I mean some rec players get kind of excited about All-in or Fold tournaments already.

Great stuff, and good point Doug about how things have become so much more competitive and any space requires one to perform at such a high level these days due to there being so much free access to information. Feydor is a really impressive guy, obviously crazy smart and driven. I'm a little older but when I grew up there was more emphasis on being "well rounded" as opposed to best in the world at one thing, putting in your 10K hours etc. That ideal is definitely not in vogue right now but I still think there's a lot of merit to it. We all have such a limited amount of time here, it's not necessarily optimal to sink it all into being great at one thing - being just good at a lot of things and having varied experiences is also valuable. Just depends on your priorities.

If anyone's wondering what other investments he has that he doesn't want to talk about, he invested heavily in the brothel market. It's a bit taboo in some countries so I can see why he doesn't want to talk about it. He is quite open minded so he doesn't see any issues with one of the oldest industries around and let's be honest there will always be a market for it, he really does want to make sure everyone's is primed.

Right.. I'm up thousands of dollars playing mid stakes mtts and i'm certain the RNG is either broken or rigged. PokerStars can easily address this though, using simple cryptography, you can make verifiable card shuffles. Why don't they do that and end this 'rigged' saga?

Trading analogy is a little off. Trading spectrum vastly different than poker spectrum. On one end the the variance/pnl is fairly fixed with strategies having pretty high shape so losing is quite alarming. On the other end the variance is way more enormous than poker. But yes, the two worlds have many similarities especially in the psychological aspect.

Great poker content. Investing...not so much. Note that professionals that spend 80hr per week generally can't beat the market, so buy and hold strategy with a well diversified portfolio is the way to go. And be aggressive when people are fearful. With their poker talents they should stick with vanilla money management strategies.

I agree with all those who say how inspirational this is. Doug I have a question though. I’ve been grinding for two years at 1/3 but just married and bought a house, money is tight. My win percentage at 1/3 is way lower than my 2/5 win rate but EVERYTIME I get my bankroll up something in life comes up that is more important financially. I do well in tournaments and always have but I am honestly bubble boy like top 12-16% in like 60% of the tournaments I play in. Do you have any suggestions, I live in Maryland so online poker is hard to come by . Wish I could grind it out in micro stakes 6 tabling it like most these young guys but unfortunately I can’t. I was always big into video games and chess and cards since I was a child playing with my dad and grand parents and I’m very passionate about Poker and would love to someday do it full time. Thanks!

Gents, great conversation. One thing, Fedor said the economic system is messed up, one of the reasons he gave is that governments have the ability to print money. This isn't quite how it works... It's much worse than that, governments don't print money, they borrow it from private central banks who print it. Governments would be better off if they did print the money many of them did in the past, but the system was hijacked, governments borrow money at interest from private central banks that print it/create out of thin air. The world is drowning in debt.

Very interesting commentary on markets by Fedor. Its interesting to hear someone who is an "insider" in poker speak outside of his comfort zone about general economic conditions. Revealing why some experts say that geniuses are made and not born. Doug is more on point with his, "I know I don't know" comments. These guys are out of their depth and they better do some serious schooling or the markets will chew them up. Fedor's comment "you know when people first started trading stocks like 30 years ago or 60's or 70's" . Bahhahahahah Bitcoin! Fedor on variance, "We as poker players are used to more variance than traders". Trust me I know traders who play poker and most poker players would poop their pants if they were really trading for a living.
