Glad to have received your comments; going back to the internals of the HITBOX, mine, has 12AWG wire which is acceptable since the unit has it's own inverter and it's working just fine; my first project is changing the seats of my VW Karmann Ghia, the seats coming off are some type of Racing Vaccaro sports seats which I never liked and i'm installing Scion FR-S seats; a small modification needs to be WELDED on the bottom rear of the seat rails, BUT, i'm already getting "SPATTER / SPLATTER", although i took a course on welding, it was not on MIG or TIG, so i'm basically training myself (OJT); to both of you guys Ezekiel and Mr.Diamond (believe it) thanks, both have contributed to my knowledge, peace of mind and the satisfaction that I made a good choice on my machine,

I'm getting caught up (or in) with multimedia and started U-Tube myself. It's as fun a hobby as tinkering in my backyard. So far I'm pretty lame but would like to do something worthwhile. U-Tube is a great information outlet but I'm kinda looking at it as a electronic diary. May all our projects give some satisfaction. Thanks

Just caught this Hitbox review. Great shop. Hope all is well. Just got a stick Hitbox. I'm near 70 but still love to tinker. Thanks

Howdy from down under (the Caribbean); Diamond you made me laugh, I was in the same boat, trying to figure out how to how to take a "COMFORTABLE" welder (MIG) to a job site and I opted for the HITBOX (without the S in front); it's turned out to be a very good machine for my purposes. I think the person who fooled himself into making a complete video only to discredit the product was probably looking for a Cadillac, but didn't want to pay the MILLER or LINCOLN prices, then saw the low cost of the HITBOX's and went for it; I also read the comments by Ezekiel and plan on opening the box to view the electrical main cord and see if indeed my mine has 14 AWG, if it does i'll change it to at least 12 or maybe 10, I LIKE MY HITBOX!!, Good luck with your new toy,,Michael C.

Can I run this from a standard UK household socket without damaging my circuit, please?

I bought the hitbox Mig 250 I’m happy with it except for the false advertising they advertised it as a 230amp welder with 40% duty cycle I took the case off to look at the internals and it has a 180 amp fuse in it and the duty cycle is only 20% also they used 14awg wire for the wall plug wire

Short of taking the cover off to check these details, you just don't know. Whilst I've had the cover off various bits of kit and fettled them, the question being answered here is "what's it like out of the box?" I deliberately bought a specification that should be above what's needed for the bodywork and other light stuff I plan to do. So far, I'm good with it. The real test comes in the next few days when I get to doing quite a big job with it

@@DiamondHell Other than the false advertising I’m very pleased with the performance and ease of use. Once you understand how the adjustments work. The amp knob is basically your wire feed speed it’s hard to do but the display shows the actual amps when welding witch fluctuates a bit due to the in arc length fluctuating. The voltage knob is how you adjust your desired arc length depending on the type of Mig welding your trying to accomplish either short circuit, globular or spray welding. I just learned about spray welding and find it vary interesting you need a higher argon mixture than 75 25 and voltage needs to be up towards at least 50v if I remember correctly it’s very similar to a tig arc and quite. There’s a video of someone testing the same welder as mine to see if it’s able to spray weld and it did quite a nice job from what I could tell in the video.

did you ever figure out the wire feed? this thing seems ideal but id love to be able to control wire feed independently

Push the rotary knob and it controls wire speed instead of amps

What's the argon mixture in the gas bottle? Is that 20% or 5%?

Good review. We are considering this exact welder. How has it held up over the last 2 years? Thanks! (subbed!)

Hey, it's still going strong and does a lot of bodywork. Latest project was new footwells on a 1985 Defender
