I'm from Vietnam but I haven't been home for over 5 years. Thank you for promoting my country. I'm learning Hrvatski and I hope one day I'd be able to visit Croatia and Hercegovina to surprise the local with my Croatian 😆

Hey Daniel! What a fun video. Already wanted to get to Vietnam, but you made me want it more. Your story about the money is so true. It’s funny about the little cultural differences that mean so much to people. How scary for you! I didn’t recognize the song although it sounded strangely familiar. And nursing homes? Nah. I have long admired cultures that value our old folks. They should be home. Of course, since I’m edging ever closer myself, I fear my daughters are going to send ME to the glue factory! 😉. Thanks for another fun video.

I was scared at the time, but I think more in shock than scared. haha. The song was despacito. I agree with you about the nursing homes. We are the crazy ones for doing that. Not them. I'm positive that you're a great mom and your daughters will take great care of you. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for sharing your experiences :) I hope it's not too late to ask: how much do you plan on destinations before hitchhiking? I'm wondering if an itinerary is at all helpful or achievable during hitchhiking, or if the hitchhiker just "goes with the flow", going at a general direction instead of a specific place. Thanks for your attention

Shalom! i don't plan that much. I prefer to ask locals I meet along the way what places I should check it out. I find that the locals are better than any guidebook. I've also tried "blind hitchhiking" which is when I have no plan at all and literally just go wherever the driver is going. Yom tov.

Great video. It's really cool that the Vietnamese were so hospitable towards you and really cared about you. Being invited to a Vietnamese wedding looked really cool. The song they were playing was Despacito. I think retirement/nursing homes are a great place. If the kids have full time jobs it can be difficult to look after their aging parents, especially if they are ill and need help 24/7. Also, elderly people can feel really isolated in their homes sometimes so being around a lot of other people their age is great for them so that they can socialize.

haha good job on the song!! and you make a very good point about the retirement homes. I could have done a better job of explaining that aspect of it to him. Thanks for commenting and I'm happy you liked the video.

Here is a story we read in primary school in Algeria (with some changes to make it fit) : Once upon a time there was a man called Henry who loved his 6 years old son Patrick as much as himself was loved by grandpa. Henry was taking care of his son, doing the best he could for him. But his wife and him didn't take so much care of grandpa. As he was Ill and shivering, grandpa couldnt eat correctly, he was pouring out things of the plates, food was flowing from his mouth. So Henry told his wife once while he was watching his dad eating among them "he is disgusting, I cannot eat anymore, next time give him to eat in his room or in some corner I wouldn't see him getting disgusted. He is no more a baby, should we treat him as we used to treat baby Patrick back then?". So grandpa had to eat alone in his room since then. Once while the family was having dinner, they heard the sound of something getting broken in hrabdpa's room. Patrick's wife yelled to her husband "it is the fourth plate he breaks this month. From now then, I will serve him in a plastic plate. You know what? Even plastic could break, find some solid one like those we feed pets in so it wont get broken" Some day, Patrick asked his dad "daddy, when you were a baby who was feeding you?" Henry laughed "like with you, grandma fed me the most of time may she rest in peace, and when she couldnt, grandpa did." Then Patrick asked "when you were a child and some surprising sound comes out from the house, didnt grandpa and grandma worry?. Patrick said "they was always worried about me, I couldn't spend one hour alone without them picking a look at my room". Henry was astonished by those questions, "my son is growing up". Few days later while Patrick was playing with modeling clay, his daddy came to peek a look on him "hey son, what are you creating?". Patrick answered " as you treat me well, like grandpa treated you, I am making you a mud plate in wich you will eat when you will be old and ill, to show you gratitude as you do with grandpa". There Patrick felled in cries, thinking how rude he treated the man who raised him, and how karma will pay him back if he keeps acting like a bad son and a horrible person.

Amazing stories brother! I think it is the happiest that I saw you on your video's. Hope you'll be able to travel again soon 🙏 By the way, I don't understand why in your colture it is not polite to take money from someone that offered you.. on my hitchhiking time in Canada i had few cases when people offered me money and I took it, not because that I needed the money, only because I really appreciate the goodness of the person and I didn't want to ruin it... And because I had some cush to have a good meal on that day 😂
