I just started my softball season again and your videos really help. I'm a powerful hitter on my team because of you, my throws are better, and i'm just better in general. Thank you so much!❤️🥎

We share similar techniques. I am a college professor now teaching biomechanics and anatomy. Thank you for paying attention to power hitting details, especially as a petite woman. Just a suggestion, I am using your video for class and it would be awesome if you gave 3 swings before your talk in addition to what you are doing. I want to watch you swing more to show my students more. We demo 3x in education, that is why I ask. Keep up the good work Megan. Crissy

So not much of a pre-load on this drill more focused on getting the hips to drive forward and seperate upper and lower half?
@MegRemSoftball

Correct. I wanted to focus more on feeling the separation so I started in the load.

Megan, love the video, thank you. I throw front toss to my 14U granddaughter in a cage. She wants me to move the net up to about 15 feet from the front of the plate and from there I toss balls to her at about 25mph. (Do the math and you'll see that this is equal to about 65mph from a distance of 39 feet which is close to the distance from a pitcher's release point to the front of the plate.) After several pitches she gets her swing into a groove and hits screamers. However, in a game, she hits what I call squibblers, soft ground balls to the pitcher or second baseman. Her timing is obviously off and this cage time, although great for getting to the ball of a fast pitcher, is not helping her in real game conditions. Any suggestions?

Instead of moving the net up, set up 3 plates (one behind the normal plate and one in front). After each hit, have her move up. Once she hits the 3rd plate, have her start over. This helps with timing. 1st plate simulates slower pitching, middle is normal and 3rd is fastest. Foot needs to be down before hips fire so make sure more than anything that front foot is down before she swings!

@@MegRemSoftball Thank you very much for that suggestion. We'll be sure to try that the next time we're in the cage. It's funny that you mention the front foot being down. At our last session she said that she wanted to try something new that would make engaging her hips easier and that was to load by striding with her front foot on her toes then starting her swing by dropping her heel. I thought that it complicated her swing because it adds another motion but, per prior agreement, kept my mouth shut, LOL. Now, when I watch you in this video at 0.38, you seem to be doing the same thing. Am i right?
