We asked some of the guys taking part in FS magazine's 'HIV Stripped Bare' photo shoot to read REAL messages sent to HIV-positive men on gay dating apps...
Never understood why people feel the need to be so nasty on dating apps and hook up apps. If somebody isn't your cup of tea then just move on

I was on a date recently with a cute guy, and when it came to the inevitable "do you want to come back to mine" conversation, he told me he was positive undetectable. I didn't flinch and said I don't care, and the relief was quickly overcome by anger at the person who infected him and the frustration at having to say this. He also said that everyone he told was very kind. We went on several dates and I simply used a condom as I always do. Although it didn't work out, it was nothing to do with his status.

+lovatothebest if you have that attitude, especially after watching the video, then you should perfectly understand if and/or when some guy lies to you about their status or fails to bring it up at all. Gay men think that just because they got tested one day and the result was negative, they've got some immunity from any STDs the next...and it's 2015, there's multiple methods of protection and lots of education out there about HIV and how its transmitted; there are many serodiscordant couples who managed to have full, active sexual lives safely, and really there is no excuse to be dismissive or rude to HIV positive people yet many gay men choose to stay ignorant to their own demise.
@lovatothebest
8 жыл бұрын
Shawn DeRay honestly it's a crime if you don't tell people (with who you're gonna have sex with) that you have it. but like, with all respect, but don't be angry when someone chooses not to sleep with you
@ShawnDeRay
8 жыл бұрын
lovatothebest yet people became infected every day because many arent aware of their status or lie because of the major fear and stigma against positive individuals. Sexuality is a natural part of being human; just stigma and ignorance about STDs does more to spread STDs than scaring people into doing the right thing with criminalization laws....governments tried controlling human morality and behavior with Prohibition but it didn't work; people still got drunk despite the laws. It foolish for gay guys to think that just because a guy says their "clean" or "DDF" doesn't mean they really are, whether they know it or not. It's better to assume a guy is positive and be protected than to naively play Russian Roulette, unless you're willing to spend the rest of your life being abstainant or celibate.

Raphael Ferrero everyone deserves love but a person who is HIV positive should only date a HIV positive partner. The goal is to wipe out this virus but that can't be done if positive men go fuck around with negative men. Yes medications do decrees the chance of infection however there's a different between chance and stop and eventually those meds with fail just like condoms can fail.

Great video, some people are so ignorant! However I feel like some things were a bit contradicting. How did you become infected. I do ask that question, just out of interest. if you don't want to get questions asked about it, then just don't display your POS status in your grindr profile. It's like getting a tattoo on a visible place, but feeling insulted if you show it off all the time and people ask you why you got it. + I also feel that a lot of guys with POS in their profile are looking for unprotected sex with other POS guys. And about the 'You deserve it' - that's just really hurtfull and rude. However saying that mean deserve it but people who have 'just have sex'. Well nobody deserves it, but it wasnt just sex, remember- you generally get HIV through -unprotected- sex, and unfortunately the blame is on you. Most guys who I know who got HIV didn't get it from just one time unprotected sex while they did know the risk... Does that make you a slut, I dont know? However if you get HIV through unprotected sex it's always the persons own responsibility. And if the result it that soms guys don't feel comfortable having sex with you (eventhough its ignorant)- well, I feel like you should respect that. As long as they don't put it in a really mean way.
@ixlnxs

+Luukmovies "How did you get infected?" is a question I've asked lots of guys, and they seemed to appreciate my empathy. But I notice it's better to ask AFTER sex, not before.
@ShawnDeRay
8 жыл бұрын
+Luukmovies I dont know how old you are or you're experiences but have you ever considered that maybe someone who is Positive might have gotten the virus from a cheating or dishonest partner in a monogamous relationship? what about people who were sexually assaulted and later find out they became HIV positive as a result? Contrary to popular belief, many gay guys aren't out being recklessly promiscuous and/or using all kinds of drugs. Some of us like myself, are monogamous and long term relationship oriented. Point is, we shouldn't judge or assume based on what we dont know.
@juannch
8 жыл бұрын
+Luukmovies Because it's a personal and delicate issue. If you have no problem with the matter, you can probably get together with that person, have a cup of coffe or whatever, even for 15 minutes, which is a very short time and no one will die out of spending 15 mins with someone, and ask them in a face to face friendly conversation once you already know each other. Asking that does not equate to the tattoo thing. You get a tattoo on purpose. It's not the same. It's just being nosy with someone you dont know (of course if the case the question is being asked on a dating app). The answer can be a bummer, and a sad story people maybe do not want to re live all the time. Just my opinion.
@wonderboy021082

Being "gay" is a slang term for "homosexual"; asking if someone is "clean" is a slang term for "have you got any STIs?". Language changes, it evolves, develops. Get over it. People have the right not to date someone on whatever basis they like- they don't like your hair, your eye colour, your fashion sense, your STI status, your looks, your whatever. If someone knocks you back for whatever reason have the grace to accept it and not make videos about it complaining of "injustice".
@wonderboy021082
8 жыл бұрын
+alltsem Um, if someone has HIV and considers the question "are you clean?" to have a negative connotation, then so be it. In reality it is simply a question a person intending to date another would like to know the answer to before embarking on a date. No harm in that: answer it truthfully, and have the good grace to accept it if the other would prefer not to meet for coffee or dinner based on your answer.
@juannch
8 жыл бұрын
+wonderboy021082 Actually, I would think the other person is pretty stupid if they ask me that. My answer would be "would you trust whatever I answer? You don't know me". What's the point in asking that? Just have safe sex and that's it. Why would anyone trust what a stranger on an app says? They could be lying. Condoms don't lie.
@wonderboy021082
8 жыл бұрын
+Juan Milessi Um, they could be lying for sure, which is probably one reason STIs in the MSM community are rocketing. Condoms do "lie" though in that they fail and do not protect against all STIs. Maybe the safest sex is "no sex".

In all honesty I would probably be a bit of a smart arse about it and say something along the lines of Well I'm Negative and you are Positive so does that mean we balance each other out, or something similar. The comment 'people who are aggressive deserve things but I don't deserve HIV?!' REALLY?! You're glorifying the HIV?! Don't the reality is any disease is life changing and devastating HIV AND AIDS yeah you can live without a cocktail but good luck on your rollercoaster of death, while they figure out does the purple or blue pill work best for you. Regardless NO ONE WANTS TO HAVE A DISEASE THAT IS COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE IF YOU JUST PROTECT YOURSELF and let go of risqué behaviors. It's not okay no you shouldn't want to just lay down and die but don't GLORIFY AND PROMOTE IT LIKE "Oh well it's just a little HIV that will be a little AIDS someday." Like NO THIS IS NOT A GAME ITS YOUR LIFE!
