I don’t know if the nurse drew enough blood from the finger. I remember her using a pipette tho . Does it matter if it was 2 blood drops or more? will the test still pick up the antibodies after the window period?

the window period is usually the time immediately after exposure to HIV, within days, when a person may have "fresh" HIV in their blood - the antigen test detects the antigens (markers) that are part of the virus. some time after exposure to HIV, several days to a few weeks later, a person's immune system makes antibodies to try to fight off the HIV infection, this is what the antibody part of the test is. so even if you miss the window period - when presence of antigens indicates a recent exposure, if a person has had any exposure at all to HIV, no matter how long ago, they will still show up as having HIV antibodies in their blood, so a test will show a reaction, which probably means they are HIV positive. In some rare cases, a person may show a reaction in the test, but not actually have HIV. these are false positives and more lab tests are done to confirm if the person has contracted HIV or something else caused the positive result.

negative reaction for antibodies to HIV or HIV antigens. so, theoretically, the person is HIV negative, at the point in time that the test was done.
