really great these wright profile... they had a great explanation of the vcg channel, where a wright rep gave a 5 mins demo at some recent trade show. but in short: if the torque is very low, and you are just mild tighten or unscrew: then under those lower torque loads the exact profile really doesnt matters then. it only matters under high torque of max torqy conditions. so clearly here wright has chosen very intentionally to design the profile or shape to then basically become 'exactly straightened out' once you reach max torque. since both the steel of the wrench, and also the steel of the bolt head or nut will also be significantly getting squished or deformed. as steel is definately a somewhat squishable material under higher loads. so whatever the grooves or witness marks left on the nut will (as a 2nd purpose) ... will also bite enough to grip and stop the wrench from naturally sliding off the nut. since if the head of the spanner walks itself out of position, then there would be that significant risk of permanently opening out the jaws. (permanment deformation). so it keeps the nut fully in the jaws under these designed high torque situation. of course under lower torque that 2nd feature doesnt actually matter either... and really that's all there is to it. and it should work better than any other spanner on the market that does not design a similar assymetrical profile feature(s). and the reason its asymmetrical is because... when you are tighten (or untighten). then clearly only one 'end' or 'corner' of each of the 2 nut facets in contact with the wrench are ever actually at risk of getting rounded off. and the whole weird profile only works in one direction (either tighten or loosen). and not both. so i am assuming (or guesing here) that you would have to flip over the wrench and check that you have it the correct ways around. in order to properly match the desired operation. right? but the only real question i have is how to get them in europe/uk. since they are properly decent wrenches. and being american made product. (also would need them in metric)... normally i can only order from amazon usa with global shipping, (however not everything can be gotten hold of that way for international customers)

Very cool explanation! I think I've seen Wright sets on amazon...I don't know if HJE ships internationally, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. I'm sure they would love to sell a set o someone across the pond. Tell them I sent you and that you want a guy filming tools drawn on the box, haha. Imagine the conversation at the local post when that hits customs, lol. If that doesn't work let me know and I'll try to find some other options.

talking heads? this is not my beautiful wright. they look great but they should change their brand name to bright, they are some shiny spanners.

Lol...I had never owned Wright in "new" condition, which was a big incentive to bring them in...A supplier has one of those display boards with the small to jumbo wrenches and it definitely catches your attention. The old ones at work look good, but stuff just tends to lose a little luster over time. They definitely have the full polish down!

@@lonestarmoparsyou said something about talking heads in the video, not sure if my joke was clear or not haha. they look really cool and something you'll never have to replace but come on, we know you're not done buying spanners just yet haha. Don't come across much Wright over here but I'm pretty sure I've come across an impact socket or two in my time.

I got the proto asd wrenches and they are incredible. Satin finish so their kinda non slip for the hands too and the open ends are incredible. Never had the open ends slip or round off a faster and I've used them on rusty transmission cooler lines and super tight ball joint castle nuts.

Yeah, the ASDs are awesome wrenches! At the time I decided to pull the trigger on these I could only get (2) of the Protos I wanted. That and wanting to have a "new" set of Wright's really sealed it. All the Wright wrenches at work are pretty old. That said, the Challengers will remain my favorite given how long they have held up...Dream setup at work would be Wright and Proto...There are several assembly steps where I need a backing wrench along with the main wrench, so a few sizes are needed 2x. You might see the ASDs in a future video...

I have mixed feelings on wright. They're good tools, but trying to find them seems like I pain. I know hje carrys them, but eh. I'm happy with my precision torques, even if they're made over seas, they are the best feeling wrench I've ever laid hands on. That's including wright, snappy, Williams, etc. Mac just absolutely nailed the design of the beam for comfort, I'm glad they carried it onto the rbrt wrenches.

A lot of it comes down to local suppliers. It is a mixed bag on whether you have a place stock the wrenches (and other stuff), or just order it all in...if they don't stock anything, it can be a pain. There also tends to be more SAE stocked since it is still targeted industrial and heavy equipment, at least where I'm at. I usually get stuff pretty quick, but I have a set of sockets I ordered that are past the 5 week mark. I hope to try the Precision Torque, or some variation of them at some point. Lots of people seem to like them.

@@lonestarmopars I definitely recommend giving them a shot, they've been on promo a lot since the rbrt wrenches launched. I know you like to get eu tools, facom offers the same wrench. Just if you go that route, make sure you get the long pattern ones with the ASD.

I love my Wrights and wouldn't trade them for anything, and I too have likely more wrenches/tools than 99% of techs/collectors.
