I’m a big fan of this magnificent air frame. My grandad was a ball turret gunner on this actual, older model before they added the chin turrets on the later models. Let me just say that not only does your meticulous work speak to your considerable talent, but you honor my grandfather and all the heroic men of the mighty 8th Air Corps. This faithful representation amply portrays this wonderful aircraft and highlights the sacrifice these men made using this amazing tool of warfare. Well done sir! That is one LUCKY customer you speak of.

AA few years ago I got to ride in a B17 and spent the majority of the time sticking my head out of that hatch that is closed on the top of the models fuselage as the hatch was removed. I was just tall enough to get the top of my head out in the airstream. A good day to wear wrap around sunglasses as we were flying around 160 knots. It was a pricey half hour ride but one I wont forget. That aircraft did an emergency landing in a cornfield years later and burned up. BTW, great modeling!

I just want to say as a brother in the model building world, you did awesome! Clearly you have been building for a while. I am on my 48th year. I have worked with plastic, wood, metal,foam, balsa wood, pretty much all the types of models ever built. I used to mix my own colors for weathering my models qs well as use oil pastels and dry pastels sealed with a top coat. Now I am into LED lighting. I also got back inyo flying RC planes again. I enjoy flying my detailed models. Its the best of both worlds!

@@seanerk5kt9 You picked the most complicated flying machine ever, that's why. Now days they make highly detailed smaller scale planes that can almost fly themselves! I personally like the smaller scale planes as I can go right behind my place and fly them. The larger planes are always easier to fly especially those with a gyro system. Now they have them with GPS. I don't care for snything that actually can fly and land its self( drones being one of them). Most kids are into drones but there is no skill involved. A plane does take practice. I invested in a simulator that I can run on my computer that keeps me going during the winter months. FYI I am working on the Star Trek Reliant large scale model . It's an easy build but the lighting is what is dragging it down. I have the Enterprise also but just cannot get into that until the Reliant is done.

Absolutely Love it, Having grown up next to a former war time B17 base in the south east of England, The Plane became a favourite of mine at an early age. Especially the F model. I have the G version HK in my stash, but haven’t yet got the space to display it. So it’ll be staying in the box for now. However, I did recently start work on a 1/18th scale Dauntless. And very quickly realised just how much work is required to make the paint job look authentic Rather than toy like. On these larger kits. So Hats off to you , I think you’ve done a cracking job and done the old girl a service. Beautiful job buddy, 👏👏👏

You did very excellent job on that airplane. Maybe you should have done also to have bomb doors and antenna to be disassembled, just like you have putted the wings, propellers, gun machines, and the turrets. I once assembled the B-17 G, and I have used the Yugoslav markings as well. I assembled Revell B-17 G in scale 1/72, and in that decals there is also a Yugoslav P-38. The company that makes those decals is called Lift Here. I can send you images on your email if you are interested.

What does hairspray do to the model?
@seanerk5kt9
5 жыл бұрын
Watermelon 1232 it acts as a chipping fluid. I’ll paint a base layer of aluminum, spray hairspray on top of that, then spray the olive drab on top of the hairspray. When I get the olive drab paint wet with water, it loosens the hairspray layer and allows me to chip the olive drab paint away giving a worn and chipped effect.

This kit is a challenge to begin with, but having to do everything with the planning in advance of knowing you'll have to ship it: that's most difficult. Great job, it looks beautiful, I hope it made it to the customer in one piece and he's happy with it. I'd send it all carefully packaged up in a Pelican case and include a shipping label so the customer can send the case back, that's the only thing I can think of to give it the best chance.

Im sure it would involve a TON of scratch building as to the aircraft & its interior aluminum skeleton being exposed to the air/destroyed.... Building destroyed/burnt 1/35th AFV & Tanks is a daunting enough task as it is! Inspiring work, keep it up, as it involves a LIFETIME of learning, advancing ones skills in a gradual manner & getting a handle on new/old techniques & disciplines... I find the vehicles/models that are just 3 months old as to being completed/finished, look drab in comparison to my very latest ones, due to which, many have gotten re-bought & re-built. and thats with modeling over my entire lifetime.-(Born:12/25/1974)- Ive been working full time on a MEGA-dio since 2007 to present day. Prob about 8X10 foot as to final base size?
