All these have special meaning for me. I was born in 1946 and I left HongKong in 1973. Time flies, now I am an old man. Thank you for posting.

Where are you now? Don't you have the feeling that Hong Kong was the best city ever no matter how many years you have left her you will still consider it remains your only real home?!
Agreed. In every way, and probably not for the better, I am afraid.

@@josephho8019 That is what an authoritarian regime does. It creates chaos to legitimate its so-called law and order tactics. Many demonstrators heard police speak with a heavy accent or speaking in 煲冬瓜 and some mixed in among the demonstrators to incite the riot and give them the reason to put down the demonstrators. Those po-po from the mainland were the ones that used excessive force. I believe some of the po-po are forced to use extreme force to beat down the demonstrators as everybody was doing it and also under pressure from higher-ups. . In psychology, it describes this kind of situation when a mob or group of police committing a heinous act, each of the group members felt less shame and guilt since everybody is doing it---deindividuation. Calling the demonstrators 曱甴could also lessen the guilt they felt when they beat the demonstrators because they felt they are not beating a human being. 倪匡was right, all you need to destroy a city is to take away its advantage--freedom of speech, press, and assembly. Now specific numbers and colors are forbidden to be uttered, what a joke. 清零? The omicron variant is just like the regular flu which numbered tens of thousands every winter. You don't shut down the whole northern or southern hemisphere because there is a flu season. Do we try to eradicate it? No, stay home and drink plenty of fluids, and take something to lower the fever if there is one. 許家河's aim is to keep track of everybody to minimize the risk of riots, and upheaval because of the 二十大.
Thanks for putting all those meaningful photos together. It's good to reflect all the changes of different parts of Hong Kong a place that we are proud of.
I LIKE HONG KONG IN THE PAST, SO I DON'T WANT IT TO CHANGE.

Remember the tiny one-cent notes for paying power bills? but not for any other usage. We called the early largest amount of banknotes of $500. ‘ big cotton blanket ‘ ( Dai Min Toi). so wide, you needed 4 folds for hiding in the ‘watch pocket’ of trousers. Times flies, you might ignore the $2. coin you saw on the ground nowadays.

I agreed Roman Tam song reminded us most of us grew up in old HK which I meant before HK returned to Chinese government. I grew up under British government, and witnessed so many of ups and downs of social movement. HK people were resilient regarding whatever situation they faced. I wish the pandemic will be over soon so I can visit my homeland again!
British spent 100 years building a beautiful HK. Now in just 20 years, it is ruined by PRC government

When Britian was in charge in Hong Kong, Hong Kong could stay away from civil war in mainland China from 1945 to 1949. ie Chinese Communist Party and National Party of China (Taiwan). Without Britain ruling in Hong Kong, Hong Kong would be suffered to starvation, cultural revolution and fighting and killing each other by Chinese Communist Party like in 1960s. The sad things is, right now Hong Kong people never think about this way, especially the people who are pro-Chinese Communism.
