Wow Kao Kalia Yang, you have such a beautiful translation of your father’s words and story. I’m so inspired by you and love your books. I admire you and thank you for sharing our culture in a way I never have appreciated it. You are as poetic as your dad in a modernized way. Thank you again!

Hey! Beautiful poem expression. Growing up I too have noticed that all of the Hmong chants are verses and verses of wonderful poems. This is why we have to keep the language vital: kwvtxhiaj, kwvchab, pajhuam, zajtshoob, thiab txivxaiv. 🌈🌎❤️🌿🐦😄

Remember, we fled from China to Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. We are the founding fathers of rice culture, wine, embroidery, silver, music, poetry, and literature before the Chinese burned it down! Then they gave us a racist name, "苗/猫," to discriminate against us because we don't bend our knees! Fine, the Han Chinese may defeat us, but we didn't bend the KNEE! Our real name is 盟族. That is our real name on the DAY WE REBEL AGAINST ZHOU! After over 5000 years of persecution, suppression, oppression, and genocide in China, we face another genocide in Laos! We'd even protected Vietnam from China before their country was split (Baiyue/Bai Yia War One and Two). I understand that Vietnam may kill us for political reasons because they protect their people. Laos and China killed Hmong people out of racism because of envy! They fear that one day, Hmong will surpass them in every way! That is also true! It doesn't matter. Sunisa Lee has won; sadly, no Chinese or Laotian has won in the Olympics. We will ALWAYS be the first! Bee Yang...strive forward! Remember that we don't bend the knee to tyrants! They may kill us, but we will prevail!
