This HMV 102 was the portable music solution of its day allowing you to play your 78 rpm records anywhere. it weighs in at about 7 or 8 kg and so is not very light but how many contemporary music playing devices will be working in 80 years time! Also you cant say I do not give you varied content!
The sound box is a Number 16 which HMV replaced with a Number 5 which are supposed to sound much better but I do not have one to hand but I am sort of glad I have the very early but not so good sound box as it helps identify this 102's date of manufacture.
I do let it run down too soon on purpose as I am saving the mechanism as i am not sure if I am straining it in winding it up fully.
I do play a record in this so will probably get a copyright strike for it but the piece of music is Saint Saens "Danse Macabre" which I think was recorded in the 1940's so will be interesting to see if KZitem Identify's it correctly. And thank you to @Techmoan for reminding me I had this Gramophone player in the loft.!
