Just starting the hobby now, bought the Super Cars set from AFX. I watched your whole video, and it was a real eye opener !! I used to have a set when I was a kid, now I'm an old kid. The cars have gotten way faster , and better, it seems !

WOW! What a collection of slot cars. That track...I'll bet that took a lot of work. I got an Aurora Model Motoring "Stirling Moss" race set back in the early 1960's. I can't remember the cars that came with it, but I remember the cars had the Vibrator motors.

I took the magnets out of my cars which were slower and a bit more realistic old 70's AFX engines and chassis as well as early 80's models. It forced you to drive more carefully and it definitely drove more realistic with rear kicking out during take off or acceleration after a curve. I compensated drive action with tiny weights and silicone tires for racing or harder rubber tires for more realistic looking take offs and curves. Later,i made handmade painted bodies from bits of heavy tinfoil and thin balsa wood glued together lightly for body damage and debris incase of severe crashes. (Tiny screw driver or small tool to push dents back out) I added head and rear lights and a 75 foot straightway so I could also drag race. Ahhh...such a fun hobby and relaxing way to pass time. You have a great layout,track and beautiful car collection! Absolutely love the woodwork in your home!

@Blueridgeracing859

@@alejandromonge5193 not really, I would first put it together on a smooth surface so you can move the track pieces around to get them all to fit. After it sits in place for a short while the it can come apart and go back together very easy.

Nice video, beautiful collection. An FYI, you may already be aware. Those AFX racemasters have delicate plastics tabs that hold the bodies on. My GT40 crashed and it broke the clip. Now I have fixed it, but these things are so fast, you wreck and those clips can easily break. Love the speed of them though! Love your channel!

Really cool layout. Looks like a fun lap for sure! On your doing the work on the track point (yes I watched that far and not just 15 minutes 😂), there’s really a lot you can do with the actual track to smooth it out, improve conductivity, and get rid of the “clicks”, which in turn will make the cars run better and more consistent with less wear on the pick up shoes especially. Very cool though…congrats!
@Blueridgeracing859

I'm looking for an Orange Meyers Manx dune buggy with white top and craiger rims. I used to know a guy who used to customize the HO blanks. He would never falter. If you gave him a 72 vette stingray picture, the ho version would be identical. A perfect replica of the picture he was given.

Terrific video Chris you definitely have become a collector I agree with what you said about Auto World their quality control is absolutely terrible it's pretty bad I've had a few issue with their products but they make it right I've had a few different occasions where a brand new Auto World chassis would literally burn up after a few laps you could smell the thing literally cooking as it was going around the track now as always prior to running Auto World cars the chassis I take apart and clean thoroughly and give them a light oiling where needed and off we go anyway on a few different occasions I called direct to Auto World store in Indiana and let them know of the problem and they would send out a new chassis I would usually receive it in around 2 to 3 weeks so the good news is at least my experience Auto World back their products
