I have the 12 ci which is the updated version. I cut 1/4" steel plate with little difficulty. That thickness is very slow though so be patient and make sure the sparks fly the other side. Not sure what 1/4" plate cuts do to consumables lifespan though. A word of warning, the arc might be tiny but it puts off ALOT of heat. More heat than arc welding. Wear leather cloves and leather apron!!!

I was thinking about buying a 115v plasma cutter but the cut rate and cut thickness wasn't going to work for me. I opted for a 220v Everlast plasma cutter. Can cut 1" steel at a good cut rate. It is amazing how night and day a 220v machine is compared to a 115v machine

Thank you for making this 110V plasma cutter video. Appreciate your honesty about how much you know about it. You're ahead of me in plasma cutter use but this is a good step in the right direction to buying and using my first cutter. Thanks again!!

Recently I read that the shade 5 was adequate for oxyacetalyne cutting but a plasma has a much brighter arc so a shade 8 should be used.

Thanks Kevin. I am looking for one of these. I am retired and I do not do anything heavy anumore and I do keep a set of torches just in case. You sold me. I looked at one thing morning, the equal to this for 6+ but in my estimation, nowhere near an equal to this Hobart. The Hobart is probably made by someone else and sold under Hobart name but still, Hobart has a reputation to protect so That means something. I like your presentation honest straight forward style.

Minimum #11 welding glass protection in open day light.. #10 in a dark area. YOU NEED TO TREAT PLASMA CUTTING JUST LIKE ARC, MIG, or TIG !!!! 🤕WEAR A WELDING HELMET AND LONG SLEEVES!!! I have over 40 years welding/fabrication experience. I also own both the Hobart handler 140 and the Hobart duel voltage plasma cutter.

John Lanni I did they said in my climate the air must not be dry enough but sadly it’s not even really humid it’s from the machine itself heating up pumping air and moister happens. I sent back to northern tools and ordered a Hypotherm
