I just wish I had the patience you have! What got you started in model building? You obviously have been building for a while...

Great job on the seat! I’m actually a retired ejection seat mech and you hit it out of the park. The small cylinders on the side of the harness Koch fittings (buckles) are called SEAWARS. It stands for Sea Water Activated Restraint System. Asking the covers are Riser Covers and the produce the parachute risers from UV damage sitting out on the flight line. Keep up the great work!!

Darrin - they need you at the Temora aviation museum in Australia. Their CAC Sabre is grounded due to ejection seat issues! I guess the rocket pack is obsolete. I wonder if it can be refurbished? I guess its a question of cost...

I'm thinking of using the tape method on the USS Greeneville 1/350 sub that I have to model the SHT along the hull. I need it to look rubbery and I think this will work out well.

Beautiful job on the seat. Realistic to say the least! The rest of the pit - you've set the bar high. Should be cool to watch

When you started out with the basic kit ejector seat - it was OMG that's no Harrier II ejector seat. Looks much more like it now ;)

The American seat is totally different from the British Harrier seat, which is a Martin Baker 9B seat. Just so you know.

Seat looks good, shame you can't get the resin 3D printed knobs and dials in 1/18, that I saw Matt, from doog's models putting in the 1/32 Intruder,,, I bought a set for my upcoming F4 phantom. I'm still undecided weather to get this beast or not,,🤔

That was a lot of work, but definitely worth it. I can’t believe that at that scale they didn’t mold more detail into it than they did. And, I’m sure that kit was no where near cheap too. I didn’t even know you could get an AV8 in that scale. There’s another one to add to my personal dream kits list.

Thank you for tackling this project! I have a kit of my own that has been sitting in a closet for a few months that I really wasn't sure how I wanted to approach. The cockpit really needs a LOT of help, and at 1/18 scale those small details (or lack thereof) really show. I was fortunate to find someone who does offer a resin replacement (manufactured on demand) for the cockpit and I put in an order at the beginning of the month. That said, I'm following your work closely as there is a lot to learn here.

You’re welcome my friend. It seems to be a popular kit and I’m sure there are many out there like you who look at the lack of details and aren’t sure how to go about tackling it. I’m actually not sure myself so hopefully my learning experience will help everyone else.

Nice work with the seat. I have begun to follow your example and collect different bits that I think may help with a model project down the road. Your attention to detail and then being able to identify the raw materials to recreate what you’re working on is admirable. I am still struggling to identify the colors to use. From watching you, I’ve learned not to focus on the shade of color that an item actually is, but look at the shades for how it “looks.” This is not easy for me and I feel it is an art and, you sir, are an artist.

That seat looks good after all your excellent work. Here is the disadvantage of large scale kits though that lack detail or have incorrect detail. You have to get in there and do it if you don't want a model that looks like a toy.

I love scratch building. I recently combined a 1/35 Revell V2 missile with an AS 90 tank hull to create a single vehicle V2 missile carrier and launcher. Sort of 1946 wehrmacht.

That medical surgical tape really adds texture and realism to the seat. I use it a lot of times....and it's also good for those damn exacto knife cuts!!
