People been sleepin on hobbyplus. I tried to tell everyone how good the 18p was. If Calvin wouldn’t have ghosted me when I reached out, I would have pro’ly gone all in on the 18p slayers. They were killer and being able to build it out of the box was awesome. This new rig looks amazing for an rtr. Great video brother.

Awesome looking and performing rig! It is hard to tell how much dampening the rear (R) shock provided in the video. Preload the rear right spring about 1/8 to 1/4 inch to keep the (F) driver-side wheel down on steep climbs.

That's a crazy amount of torque twist for a rig with portals! Also, those Hyrax/Swamper hybrid tires look fantastic and have a ton of potential. Kudos to them on the overall build, it looks like a fantastic RTR.

I'm starting to like brushless more, honestly, they just break less. It's hard to hand the remote of a brushless rig to a friend or a kid, because something could easily snap if they get the car jammed up.

Another great review Matt! This thing looks legit. RTR comp Crawler out of the box. Question tho... How many times... If ever do both front shocks get compressed all they way? I've personally never witnessed it. Have you?

Rarely ever I’d say. Maybe when launching up something and the front takes a hit but it’s hard to really see to know. I sometimes like for my rear to hit something like that and not squat all the way. Helps with vertical climbs. As long as you have the twist left to right it’ll still flex fine lol

It looks really cool. I would still probably be inclined to put a bit smaller wheels on it and if necessary move the shocks to compensate. But it is really impressive out of the box - it does not scream for better EDC/motor - as many other small scale crawlers do.

The past HP rig i had i was not impressed with. Some of the screws were either striped or the screw holes striped out. Also do you think the brushless will be that much better??? I'm assuming that's a 2 in 1 esc and receiver, can you bypass the esc? I'm guessing not but I'm preorder Fri and I've already got a brushless system but lacking a receiver, just have to throw a gt5 at it.

I just like how plastic slides better over the rocks. Sometimes metal seems to really hang up. I usually add brass to the inner/outer portal covers to get the weight I need and leave the housing plastic. Just seems to work better for me. Thats what I’ve always done on 1/10s and I kinda carry it over to these.

@@HaasesHighlife yeah the way they made that rear axle allows the rear ring gear to be flipped which is needed when using the other output shaft on the transmission. You can also just try loading the front shock with preload and that may help some. I’m gonna go with heavier wheels and try that to see if it helps

Here’s a vid I did on the axle. It’s the same for the fury wagon as it is the Evo pro. I don’t think 4ws would help. I’ll definitely be doing another video on the Evo pro with this axle when it’s released. I normally go around 20-25% any more than that it seems like you’re fighting yourself. At least that’s been my experience with 1:10s. I just carry it over to these trucks.

I like it. Looks nice and seems to run nice outta the box. But, yeah, that torque twist is a bit much for something labeled "pro". Kinda wish it was more 1/24th. I think it's getting a bit too much when the scales start getting split so many ways. Guys that have 1/24th courses might find the 1/18th too big to be fun. Plus events might end up being a bigger issue putting on with too many scale categories.

@@myz11-11 oh sorry. I read that wrong. Yeah the cayman has fcx axles. Not much you can do to help the torque twist on that. Maybe a stiffer spring on the rear shock opposite of the wheel that lifts. The overdrive should help a bit

Very similar but I prefer this chassis over the fx118 for sure. I also like the body much better. Way less getting caught on this body or belly. The fx118 is a good rtr for sure. Especially being brushless but the chassis gets caught a lot and the stock body is too wide imo. That’s part of the reason I changed my body.

I don’t think it’s available yet for whatever reason. I think there was a hold up on it. Hobbyplus is releasing it also so hopefully it’ll be more available.

@@2fmrc I was messing around with my Rock Van and decided to try an Fcx24 rear axle obviously it fit, the kicker is it rotates the opposite direction of the hobbyplus axle so I was able to switch the driveshaft to the other output. The width of the fcx24 axle is the same the only issue I see is the fcx24 is ever so slightly faster but if you had the overdrive gears it should be fine. I know how you prefer to run plastic axles so I figured I would tell you about my findings.

Yeah it definitely sits wide. It’s mostly the hex they use. Same axles as the fury wagon.

No I never built the warthog. It was very similar to another chassis I had way back like 2 yrs ago from origin Rc so I just never picked one up.

Got the rig today. The torque twist is really, really bad. It cost approx. 5 degrees in climbing. The shocks need oil, nearly nothing there.

Yeah it’s pretty terrible with torque twist. My shocks felt pretty good. Not much oil but I honestly just run a couple drops in these small shocks. The trucks really aren’t heavy enough to need a shock full.

Yes and no. Furitek sent me a set for the fury wagon which is the same axles. They have them on preorder but I haven’t heard when they are shipping etc. Hopefully they’ll be readily available soon! I want a set for this thing bad lol
