Just chatting. Count how many times I said "orange" 😛 When I said handsomest notebook cover I meant the black A6 cover. My 2nd box came just a few minutes ago while I was waiting for the movers to arrive with our furniture. You've asked. So here they are, with TIME STAMPS below.
I will NOT be taking a closer look at the items. I'll do that some other time. (It is mid Oct 2022 and by now there are a lot of other videos which can help you if that is what you are looking for). For now I am simply going to show them briefly, just to show you what's there, because I am still busy moving
2x A5 Covers
2x A6 Covers
2x Weeks (One Piece)
1x Arts & Science Leather Zipper Cover for A6
01:32 Two Hobonichi Weeks, both One Piece themed. The "Bow and Tie" Weeks cover is covered with a fabric that is often used for ties. This is my first of such a cover from Hobonichi. The One Piece Weeks has a cover which felt like canvas which I really like. One for my husband. The other for my cat log, which has moved from eating patters which the A6 Avec was great for, to a bigger picture health monitoring for geriatric cats, which the weekly and monthly emphasis in the Weeks is better suited. Another factor as shared in previous videos is also the fact that I prefer to keep my Hobonichi Weeks rather than the A6 Avec.
02:00 Arts & Science burnt orange waxed leather A6 zipper cover with what felt like aluminium zipper. This is my first leather A6 zipper cover since I started with Hobonichi in 2020. I am very happy to have finally found one.
09:11 The One Piece A5 cover feels like the traditional Hobonichi cover, nylon, and trench coat like, or like the material of umbrellas. The image feels printed on with a smooth rubber feel to it. I know from past experiences that without the Cover on Cover this will be scuffed. But I really dislike CoC for its plastic smell, look, and feel.
10:10 The red flower cover is cotton with what looks like screen printing which feels waxy to the touch, which still shows the texture of the cloth through it. Once again, the dilemma over whether to use Cover on Cover over it is every present.
11:30 Why the brown and blue free Hobonichi 2023 pens are nice. To me.
14:16 Why I feel I am wasting Hobonichi's Tomoe River Paper right now.

TOMOE RIVER PAPER
TRP is a PREMIUM SPECIALITY paper made in Japan. It appears to have been modelled after the traditional coated rice paper of ancient China, Japan, and Korea. They are used in the art of traditional painting and calligraphy throughout the centuries. Both utilised water based inks, and are still done in more or less the same way today.
"Superior lightweight Tomoe River FP paper is developed to reduce the thickness of notebooks while remaining strong and resistance to ink bleeding and feathering. Even though it is thin, it is resistant to bleed-through and feathering so it can handle a variety of inks and pen nibs." (Galen Leather)
The original company producing the paper have closed down due to rising paper pulp costs. This announcement send waves of panic in the global fountain pen community. The naming rights and formula have since been been purchased from Tomoegawa by another Japanese paper company, Sanzen. Rebranding and intro to a new batch of production under the new company will start with Hobonichi 2024 next year in 2023.
I'll do an ink test in a separate video.
More info can be found by Google-ing. It's not hard. I promise.

(We don't all have to like the same things, but to compare this paper with toilet paper and to exclaim that Hobonichi needs to do "better" paper, is truly something else. Entirely. It is a big world out there. It does not take much at all to be curious in an internet age such as ours. Do better? Indeed).
