Are you excited about the Hobonichi 2025 lineup? What's on your wish list?

I’m definitely tempted by this years lineup. My top two are the A5 yellow leather and A6 Fish Scales. The maybes are that A6s unsodo ferry, Herringbone, Phoolon Small Flowers, only is not lonely, and Koshino. For A5 is the SpyXFamily (I’ve read the series and it’s really cute), unsodo flower, paddington going out, huge kagome lattice crest, liberty fabrics Michelle, and minä perhonen jellybean+tambourine. My sister likes one piece so I’ll definitely get her the A6 techo and pvc cover plus the A5 as well for Christmas. It’s hard to get out of the hononichi bubble T.T I need to sell some of my collection, like the zip covers because I just don’t use those.

Good advice on the finances. I have a sinking fund for Hobonichi and it's the second savings goal every year (after money for birthday celebrations, and I'd give up those before my annual Hobonichi order). So I do spend a lot, but very intentionally.

Wow, I'm impressed that you have a sinking fund for Hobonichi. I think it's great that you are clear about what is important to you, and make the purchase possible by saving for it. I wish this approach would be more popular 👍🏼 It's so much cheaper to save for it than to pay off the credit card debt afterwards... Thank you for commenting 😊

@@michellehiggins9465 No shame on that. I couldn't afford a big Hobonichi order either without saving for it, which I also did previously when I was still buying from them. And I think saving in advance is a good approach no matter do you need to do it or not.

I found the lineup a bit 60s/70s inspired, and I'm not a fan of those dull/muted colours and designs. I don't know, the designs felt very dated to me this year in a way? Thankfully I didn't find much to spend money on, I will probably get one of the pencil boards or something the like. Oh, you asked about the pouches: I have a pocket one as a wallet (love it), I keep the Ane one with me whenever I leave the house as a "hygiene bag" (so depending where I'm going, it might contain things like makeup removal things, period pads etc.), and then I use the large one whenever I stay overnight somewhere, so it has electronics, medicine, whatever knick-knacks one needs in addition to clothing etc. They are ridiculously expensive, but I've liked them all so far.

Ah, I have dreamt about those pouches for years but the price has always been too much for me... But maybe some day... I'm glad to hear you enjoy them and apparently they have help up pretty good. But the price... argh 😅

I just want 2 things (HON A6 & A5 cover, both from Hiroko Kubota, but in 2025 my main planners (weeks & A5) will be from Kinbor (AliExpress). 🤓

I know the feeling! Of course I would love that there would be something that I just can't resist - but when not, I can also be happy about that, so maybe call it a win-win situation. You win kinda in both cases 😅

This was fun, Kati. I’m trying to gather my thoughts about everything. I think I will start trying to make a list later today and then refine, refine, refine. I have my covers in front of me and I’m trying to be honest if I like any of these as much or better or is it that I like them the best from this lineup (like you said). I’m definitely getting an A6 Hon and some notebooks, some folders, and the A5 pencil board. No WEEKS- I’m staying strong😂 I don’t want to enable you- BUT the clear/printed folders that you liked at the end of the video can be punched and used in your rings. I’ve been doing that with those and the pencil boards so that they get more use and I can see them more often (not tucked into a pocket). You might not need more pockets with your moterm but they make pretty dividers.

Thank you, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the video 😊 I have thought about punching Hobonichi pencil boards as dividers but that's a good idea to do it also with the folders. I will keep that idea in mind when pondering about my order. I think it's great that we have now over a week time to think, window shop and change our mind. And I maybe think that this is the most enjoyable part of the experience 😅 So many fun things to look at. I just need to remember that I don't need them in my home to be able to enjoy them. Like the banana hammer. It still makes me happy to think about it although I never bought it 🤣

I hate PU leather, it just doesn't last. Not all leather lasts for decades either, of course, but PU is pretty much guaranteed to fail quite quickly. I can understand it in cheap products (I have an AliExpress binder that's actually held up quite well), but for Hobonichi prices? No way. I always come to see what Hobonichi launches every year even though I never buy their books - I'm very firmly a rings type of planner person, that's not changing anytime soon, but I still want to see 😅
@Katiplans

Yes, it's so interesting to follow along the releases - especially if there is no need to buy. You can just admire all the nice designs. I kinda don't understand why they use PU in some nicer and more expensive designs - to save costs? But of course there are people who only use it a year so probably they don't make these covers to last. I'm glad to hear you have found a system that works for you 👍🏼

I’m with you both on the PU leather, when I got my 5 year cover, I got the search and collect, which has the brass button and the wool, but the inside is PU leather which just hasn’t held up after a couple of years. So now this year, I’m purchasing the 5 year red leather cover to make up for it and when looking at the covers, I always look at the materials because I just don’t trust the poly material. Always nice to look at though and see what other people plan to get or not get.

Hi Kati, I subscribed to your channel after watching your Hobonichi Weeks Intervention video. As much as I love the idea of the Hobonichi, I must admit that the planners just don’t work for me. I think it has to do with how small the grids are. My handwriting tends to be on the bigger side, and I’ve realised that most of these KZitemrs and Instagrammers who thrive so well in the Hobonichi typically have smaller handwriting. Anyway, I just wanted to drop a message saying good on you for breaking out of the Hobonichi prison haha. And I loved that reminder you gave us at the end of not breaking the bank over these notebooks 😂 it can get VERY spendy VERY quickly if you’re not careful (I've fallen victim to this myself in the past). Having said that, I have been swayed by the Paddington Weeks, though, as I loved the cartoons as a kid. We shall see if I cave 😂 Sorry for the rambling and wishing you planner peace heading into 2025 ✨

I will say that I don’t have small handwriting and don’t have issue using Hobonichi or other 3.7/3.9 mm grid. But I prefer a 4mm or 5mm and there’s some options out there in those sizes 💞

@@JustScribble Yeah, I think a bigger grid size would serve me well. I’ve made do with the smaller grid size these past few years because I like how my inks behave on TRP and that the book lays flat when open (which is important to me), but now I’m excited to be in a TN full time for next year 😊
