Sometimes our needs evolve and sometimes it takes a while for us to adjust as purchasing became a habit that no longer suits our changing needs. Through it all, Hobonichi is still my girl. After 4 years. The paper. The printing. The system. The binding. Nobody else could do it like Hobonichi for me. For now.
In this video: All the Hobonichi techo I used in 2023 and 2024.
I WILL NOT BE SHOWING "SPREADS" inside my planners and journals because they all contain too many private information.
2020
• HOBONICHI 2020 ONE YEA...
My first full year with Hobonichi was 2020. My first use of Hobonichi was an April start Original A6 which I used between September to December 2019 while traveling and it worked very well except for the weight.
The Weeks worked really well between 2020-2021 as a very functional and easy to carry planner.
2021
• Reviewing Hobonichi 20...
In 2021 I experimented with multiple planners and record keepers bought in Sept 2020. This arrangement has its uses, but its benefit failed to outweigh the cost and the extra mental space it required to manage.
By September 2021 I was really getting into Hobonichi and bought my biggest purchase for 2022.
2022

• HOBONICHI FAIL! One Ye...
Then of course 2022 was the year I was forced to move to digital planning.
Events in 2022 forced all Hobonichi purchases in Sept 2021 to be rendered useless except for the basics: The Weeks for planning and A6 for memory keeping journalling. Neither were used to their fullest.
But I still found myself buying Hobonichi when Hobonichi season came around in September 2022.
2023
September 2023 was the year I gave the Hobonichi ritual a miss.
My use of the Hobonichi Techo I have bought dwindled to a minimum. The original A6 in English, and the Weeks. Both maybe filled only around 30% to 50% capacity. The Weeks was hardly touched until I started preparing for my October - November travel.
Bought my Hobonichi 2024 in Tokyo, one A6 and one Weeks.
2024
• Unboxing Hobonichi 202...
Throughout 2024 I used only two techo: A6 and the Weeks. And again, not to their fullest, maybe only half capacity.
The A6 was tight as a memory keeper journal, but I was committed to use the A6 Hobonichi techo for 5 years between 2020-2024 to pair with the 5 year techo. This year is my last year with the A6 as my memory keeper. The 5 year techo was a total failure.
The A5 Cousin was all over the place and I gave up on it.
2025
Now that I am retiring the A6, and found myself leaving the Weeks as my planner at home more, I am giving the A5 Cousin another go for 2025.
