Gorgeous! You captured the feel and essence of those woods so perfectly Jim! P.S. Thanks for taking the time to include the story of Grandma Gatewood :-)

I'll be 85 yrs in May 2013. I'm no. 11 and the youngest of Grandma Gatewood's children. I am planning to climb Mt. Katahdin in Maine on my birthday to commemorate her Appalachian Trail hikes. I'm very proud of the Grandma Gatewood Trail at Old Man's Cave in the Hocking Hills, Ohio.

Oh, I love this so much! So glad I came back to where I grew up. Gotta go on this trail one day. Some of it looks so familiar. Now I'm in Zanesville area, outskirts of town. Thanks so much!

On my bucket let to hike it just once. For her to have the pleasure of completing that task 3 times is amazing. Her simple tools just goes to show that it is just a task you need to set you mind to. The reward is beyond capturing by words or picture.

That is one of the coolest looking hikes I have ever seen. If I ever get up to Ohio I would love to do this hike. The rocks were enormous and trees just grow right out of them. Thanks for sharing

If the number of views keeps rising sharply here like a sandstone cliffside, it would be mostly my fault. I simply love Ohio, and this is some of the best footage that I've seen of southern woodland Ohio. Plus, I am enjoying your choice of music very much. Thank you for this break from ordinary reality. It's lovely.

Great video. I'm heading there for the first time with my daughter in a few weeks. Where in relation to the visitor center is this trail head? I'm going to have to find some maps that give better descriptions of these trails. We want to do as much as we can there. I cant wait for our adventure there.

+My Hiking Adventures The pouplar trails start right there at the Old Man's Cave Visitors center. There is plenty in the area to visit and see, all are pretty well marked with an information kiosk. Here's a link that may help. Enjoy the park, it's a great place and one of my favorites... hockinghills.com/parks.html

+My Hiking Adventures Forgot to add, the very beginning of this video is not part of the trail. I was staying in the rental cabins and simply walked down the hill to access the trail at the Old Mans Cave area. I have other videos of the Hocking Hills areas...

Mt. Oglethorpe was the original starting point (1937-1958). In 1958 development around the mountain forced the relocation of the southern end 20 miles north to Springer Mountain.
