Blessed Karl I succeeded to the thrones in November 1916 following the death of his granduncle, Franz Joseph. He made secret attempts to negotiate Austria-Hungary's exit from the First World War but was unsuccessful. His cause for Canonization has been introduced together with that of Zita. In April, 1972, his sarcophagus was opened & his body was found to be incorrupt. The Great War sought to & succeeded in overthrowinh the Catholic monarchy together with the Christian social order. We pray for the restoration of both!

'Incorrupt' is a Catholic misnomer, in practice it just means dessicated. All cadavers are suject to decomposition. In any case, the corpse of the former monarch must have had some preservation treatment. As to his sanctity; he may have tried to live a holy life but he certainly does not deserve canonisation. It is a politically motivated project financed by his family's wealth. Shameful.

He has titular head of the Prussian united church which was the product of of the forced merger of the reformed Church in Prussian states and the Lutheran Church in the same states . This was done Friedrich Wilhelm lol Kaiser Wilhelms Great uncle. But it was a more reformed Church it was never a genuine confessional orthodox Lutheran Church as such.
