Holbert Trail on South Mountain in Phoenix is quite possibly the most technical trail I've ever ridden. Last time I rode it from the Dobbins Lookout, but this time I started from the hightest point, at the intersection of the National Trail... I wasn't expecting to ride it this trip, but Greg hurt his foot and offered to shuttle me on a trail of my choice. Unfortunately it was Saturday, and hikers were out in force, but it was still a blast regardless; some of the reactions from the hikers were priceless...
This was a real test for the On-One Codeine 27.5; I have had my struggles with the geometry on my local trails, one of them being the bottom-bracket height and reach in technical situations, so this was the ultimate test as to whether or not the extreme geometry would be a liability on trails beyond my home trails... I have to say, it passed. Yes, I smacked the heck out of my cranks, pedals, etc, but not to the point that killed momentum, at least not much. The slack head angle came into its own on the steep stuff though, yet I was still able to maneuver around switchbacks with hops and nose-turns... Overall, I'd say that it worked better than my Nukeproof TR 27.5 that it replaced, on the same trail.
