Ho, my comrades, see the signal, waving in the sky! Reinforcements now appearing, victory is nigh. Refrain: “Hold the fort, for I am coming,” Jesus signals still; Wave the answer back to Heaven, “By Thy grace we will.” See the mighty host advancing, Satan leading on; Mighty ones around us falling, courage almost gone! See the glorious banner waving! Hear the trumpet blow! In our Leader’s Name we triumph over every foe. Fierce and long the battle rages, but our help is near; Onward comes our great Commander, cheer, my comrades, cheer!

I'm Catholic now but I was raised Baptist and this was one of my favorites as a kid. I remember "waving the answer back to heaven" great memories.

Jay Jay I urge you to repent of the catholic religion and come to Jesus only as your Savior. The Catholic Church teaches that in order to be saved, you have to confess and repent of sin, do the sacraments, get baptized, and many other good works. The Bible teaches a faith alone salvation. We are saved by grace through faith alone, in Christ alone. Please watch the documentary “Being Baptist” by Verity Baptist Church. Salvation is simple, my friend.

Like I said, I was raised Baptist so I understand your point of view. But it's interesting that the only time the words "faith alone" appear in the bible, they are preceded by the words "not by". Js 2:24. At any rate, there's only one Christ and He died for Catholics too.

I know I'm late but here's some verses of the word of God to consider. Ephesians 2:8-10 NKJV - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Titus 3:4-8 NKJV - But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. Romans 5:1-2 NKJV - Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 10:9-10 NKJV - that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. May these bless your soul. We are saved by grace through faith. It's not faith and works that save It's not faith or works that save It's faith that works. Genuine faith will produce fruit.

I have been blessed to lead the choir at church, and my sister-in-law asked if I knew this one; which I didn’t. We have practiced it a few times; I look forward to the entire church singing this one together. *Thank you for not skipping any verses* The old hymns are written to relay scripture in song and music.

These people are going to be really mad when they find out this was originally a socialist song that has nothing to do with their religion. All that nonsense about Jesus was changed from the original.
Music + lyrics of “Hold the Fort” were written by P.B. Bliss in 1870. Bliss was an music teacher, making house calls on horseback during the winter, and during the summer attending Normal Academy of Music in Genesco, New York. For years he led revival meetings in Midwest and Southern U.S. He published a book of gospel songs in 1874 & was working on a second volume when he was tragically killed in a train accident in Ohio in 1874.

Quite the opposite comrade, this is the original. The socialists hijacked it later, they're good at that.
