Currently completing my IR CPL in South Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 and I struggled to understand the holding patterns and the entire instrument flight procedures until I stumbled upon this training website and I can agree without a shadow of a doubt that it's the best training platform by far beyond the rest!. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Their simplified approach makes the entire instrument holding procedures fairly easy to understand and to master!. Thank you Very much and a big thumbs up!.

Can’t remember. Is a teardrop a 30° change of course or a 45° change course? It appears to be 45 if you are doing a procedure turn.

Easy way to teach hold entries. 1)When you cross the fix are you on the hold side? If yes then TEARDROp/ if no then parallel 2) if when you cross fix and are on the fix end side the Direct. That easy
@adriannye

"When you cross the fix" you aren't on either side of the hold, you are exactly on it! It would be clear and correct if you said "after you cross the fix".

Very good from a conceptual point of view. But how is a novice, newly minted instrument rated pilot going to be able to accomplish all this when in the real world sh/e may be faced with a hold that is only four minutes away?
