My family's Xmas punch of choice is very simple and also non-alcoholic, but that's just family preference. It consists of apple juice, dry ginger ale, and lemon juice. Equal amounts of the juice and ginger ale, with only a small amount of lemon, as it is basically a flavour enhancer. The other detail is that Mum insists on making up a batch of this a few days early and putting it in containers and putting them in the freezer. Punch-flavoured ice for Xmas punch.

Jeffery Morgenthaler had a really good way to make oleo saccharum in one of his videos - just place sugar and citrus peels in a vacuum seal bag, seal it, and store it. eventually, all the sugar will dissolve evenly and you won't have to worry about all the little granular bits that didn't dissolve in the bowl. You can even do it in advance so you always have the stuff for when you make punch, and apparently it keeps a while, if I remember correctly.
