I haven't experienced anything that feels like family, and I grew up feeling I didn't know what home felt like, as there was just abuse etc where I'd been. It's only recently that I shifted from feeling so totally alone, which has only been a thing from mediation and connection with the universe. I still don't have any real connections with people, no one truly knows me, etc. Experiencing the situation like what appears to be happening with these ppl, Clara etc - does seem like a real family indeed.

The closest I had to a GM was "Aunt Marge" our next door neighbor when lived in LA. She overcooked a lot of stuff but I was a little kid at the time and didn't mind. I think she feared food poisoning in her day and maybe that had something to do with it. Lots of treats at her house and once made the best home made loaf bread that I ever had. I am thinking about Ms. Clara today as i am making her cookies for Christmas. I grew up in New Orleans which has a large Sicillian population that celebrate St. Joseph's day every year. Church ladies would come together and make literally thousands of these cookies for the St. Joseph alters held in many parishes. Over the years I have tried different recipes. While they were all delicious, none of them compare to Ms. Clara's! So now, it is my go to recipe and I think about this very special lady every year. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. We love you, ms. Clara!

I have never known anyone else who makes these!!! Except Aunt Sylvia. It was always a family event grinding the ingredients in the old meat grinder! We did it Thanksgiving weekend and my mother would make the cookies all month. And we would eat them all month! Watching this is bringing me so much joy. I'm a proud Sicillian. My grandparents came over on the boat & my father was first generation American and was a child during the depression too. Now I'm getting hungry. God bless! xoxo

MP light ......you are so lucky to have known your grandparents. Mine were either dead or very old. I needed a recipe for these cookies. I'm not Sicilian but from parents who never admitted they were children of immigrants through Ellis Island. Now I make cookies for my husband and myself. Store bought cookies will not do. I enjoy this lady as my parents grew up during the depression.

Clara's videos are the best! Watching these cuccidati Christmas cookies part one and two get me ready for the holiday, the past two years my mother died and I just didn't have the strength or will power to do make these. This year I'm making them again and Clara's recipe is simply the best. If you put the cookies in large tins and layer them with wax paper and foil they will last till march! this recipe is complex however I find it to be one of the best, from time to time I would add mini chocolate chips which give them a nice touch. If you are interested in making something that is a bit of a challenge then try these they won't disappoint. Happy Holidays to all
