@@randyhutchinson9910 The shopping mall scene came out by accident. John Landis was doing recon, looking for shooting locations, and they came across that shopping mall. It was actually abandoned, went out of business several years before the movie was made. And Landis envisioned the car chase scene right there. So they had to write it into the script, and then get permission to use the mall, as well as permission from the various companies whose stores are seen in the mall. That mall actually stood for another two or three decades, vacant the whole, before it was finally raised about 10 or 12 years ago.

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

Hey "@@itwontcomeout5678", do you like Huey Lewis and the News? Their early work was a little too "New Wave" for my taste. But when SPORTS came out in '83, I think they really came into their own. Commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear crisp sound and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87 Huey released FORE! their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square". A song so catchy most people probably don't listen to the lyrics - but they should. Because its not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself. Hey "itwontcomeout5678" - AAAAARRRRRGGAAA!!!!!!!!!! I just read the new Blues Brothers book. The stunt director brought several Bluesmobiles to the Chez Paul scene, expecting a few wrecks before they got the scene. One take, never mind, didn't give the driver enough credit. And I love the way the guy just opens the door for Jake.

Fun fact, Murph is the son of Chicago politician George Dunne. In a 1992 interview Murph cheekily said he moved from Chicago to LA because, "I'd done a number of free music festivals in Chicago; one erupted into a riot. I'd also harmed my father's career as much as possible." ;D

Funny how this holiday inn is supposed to be shitty by 1980s standards, but today I’d love to go to a holiday inn that actually has a night club inside.

What's funny is I took a chick on a date back in the early '90's to a Holiday Inn night club and it was just like this one; two other people there and a band playing twenty year old elevator music. I don't think she was impressed.😂

I for one would most certainly love to pull into a Holiday Inn and catch Steve Cropper and Duck Dunn playing cheezy schmaltz to the patrons. Encores would include Booker T and The MG's tunes and Otis Redding...

You see that Holiday Inn marquis as they are driving in...I worked at the Holiday Inn in Somerville MA back in 1980 as 16 year old. I used to climb a ladder to put up those letters...

It must have been busy seeing as Somerville is the most densely populated municipality in New England.

Yep, holiday inn on Mannheim road, just south of the airport by the I-294 bridge. I had a few beers there myself back in the day. Lounge is actually quite small, looks much bigger on camera
