Supply into the bottom of dead head regulator, up goes the fuel out both ears (horizontal), one goes to the carb and the other pressure gauge. Remove the pressure gauge, install aluminum washer with 1/16" hole into the adapter outlet that feeds back to the tank. Dead head preassure is from carb to regulator, not fuel pump to regulator. Point is this gentleman did the math for us... and it is up to us if we agree or disagree with this theory. I agree, heck 3/32" hole probably would have been too much of pressure release.

Thanks for the comment. I have a 90gph 15psi fuel pump in this truck, way more volume than I probably need but it seems to have plenty of volume for the 1/16 bleed hole and the engine without losing pressure. Also to be clear I didn’t do any math to figure this out, I just guessed and it worked!

You have to do this is you have model 12-803BP (Bypass) this model is used for fuel injection and allows for excess pressure to return to the tank. If you have model 12-803 then something is wrong with the regulator. The 12-803 has two output ports for dual carbs. The second should be plugged if you are only running one carb or a pressure gauge can be installed.

My return on my holley bypass regulator is th bottom line, not the one you installed the restriction plug. Have you adjusted your regulator bolt? It controls the fuel flow through the regulator. All extra fuel returns through the bottom return line.
@OwensGarage

Mine isn’t a bypass regulator, It’s just a single inlet dual outlet regulator and the manual says the bottom is the inlet and the two sides are both outlets. I realized I should have gotten a bypass regulator but already had this one and I decided to just make it work. Now that I put in the small bleed hole and return line the screw adjusts it properly.

@@OwensGarage That is a Awesome Idea. I have one like that also. I can do it the same way if I need to use it. My problem is a brand new holley bypass regulator is leaking from the pressure adjusting bolt. I bought a 12-807 kit but the diaphragm has a pin instead of the ball like on the factory diaphragm. Springs are different also. I know one of the Springs are high pressure and the other low pressure . I guess I'm just to picky, 😆 I appreciate the video.

I have a 454 in a 85 montecarlo toped with a 750 holly doubble pumper carb running 6an braided lines and a 300gph fule pump in stock tank with a fule injection style 58psi fule reg. Before the engine that will reg. Down to it's lowest setting at 58psi. From there I run a holly fule reg. That regulates to 4.5 to 12psi. My problem is with both regulators in place I still get 58psi with both regulators screw cranked all the way out. I am wondering if I have a bad holly regulator. What's your thoughts on this? The holly fule reg. Said on the instructions that if running a hi psi pump to run 2 regulators as I did. Mind you, I paid 80bucks for the holly one off ebay and they go for 280 to 30p or more retail for a pro fule regulator. What are your thoughts on this??

Do you have to use that aluminum filler piece you made, if so, why?
@OwensGarage
2 жыл бұрын
Yes. This is a dual outlet regulator, not a return style regulator. So if I hooked up the second outlet as a return with out the aluminum filler piece to restrict flow it would send all the fuel back to the tank and none of it would make it to the carburetor. The best way to do this is to get a proper return style regulator, I just happened to not get one of those so I just made this one work. Hope this helps and makes sense.
