Please bring back the executive roundtables. They are my favorite and the most important! Although there have been more shakeups recently but I hope they come back!!!

Don't know why they didn't have the executive roundtable this year. Very disapointed.

What was very revealing was the last question, and the responses to that question. They aren't really film-lovers, they are business people. None of them were big film lovers as kids or young people. When people are wondering why the quality of output in Hollywood is so low, that's probably why. Say what you want about old Hollywood but many of the studio heads then loved their cinema.

my advice is to watch entire vid and not listen much to this person. the 2nd to last question- nobody collected movie memorabilia. loving movies and collecting memorabilia are not the same thing, esp if you're not actually making the movies. the only a little bit strange answer was the one guy who said he didn't watch movies as a kind and he needed a job. but the answer to the actual final question "what first movie made an impact on you as a kid" EVERYBODY had an answer to this question. even the guy who didn't watch movies and worked at lionsgate for a job, explained he lived in a small southern town with a little theater that he remembered the first time he saw 10 commandments. I guarantee you every one of these people watches as much movies as anybody commenting on youtube, and probably a lot more. The executive roundtables are pretty interesting because you really do get more insight into the reality between keeping making movies and the art. Here we didn't get as much into the art aspect because the interviewers were more interested in industry horse-race and political topics, but if you watch the other round tables they usually get into tradeoffs a lot more. If directors or actors ran these companies, a lot of them would go under because they don't have pragmatism that some of these people have. It's a collaborative effort, which includes studios and financing. i don't usually comment on youtube videos but i felt like this person's comment about the last question was neither insightful much less representative of the answers. suggest you watch the whole thing and also pay attention to quality of interviewers (there is a wide range of quality in THR stuff). overall really interesting tho.

Another great 59 minutes in this series of Roundtable discussions. Thank you Hollywood Reporter. Donna Langley and Stacey Snider are especially inspiring. What I love most about Stacey Snider is how she treasures the copies of the screenplays she produced. 53:54 Who said that studio executives don't read much? Let's have more Sniders please!

I'm not surprised he didn't participate.

Even Twilight movies were directed by male filmmakers (except first one). And Donna Langley couldn't quite explain why is that male directors (who had indie-hit) get offered tent-pole from studio bosses on regular basis but female directors aren't? And it's not because pool is small coz it's not. She should look better at indie film scene - it's full of interesting (even succesfull) women fillmakers. Or may be coz studio bosses think that woman can't handle "masculine" big budget superhero movies.

+Antonio Thompson Asked and answered. Watch it again. Rothman was basically foaming at the mouth when he answered. Gender isn't an issue it's all about your star power and market forces. Some industries just work differently..are we going to get parity for male models because they make a fraction of what female models make and no one is up in arms about that for obvious reasons.
@kendallandrews8641

Yep they answered it as well as it can be answered. Actors all have different values based on how likely they are to get people to see the movie. Harrison Ford wasn't paid far more than Daisy Ridley for Star Wars because he is a male, he was paid more because he is a film legend. There will never be 100% pay equality in movies because that isn't reality. Females are the highest earners in plenty of movies. Are there complaints when Jennifer Lawrence makes far more than her male costars in other movies? Of course not and there shouldn't be because she is the bigger draw.

@kendallandrews8641

They actually answered it as clear as it can be answered. It is not a black and white issue. You aren't just going to put an actor and an actress together and pay them exactly the same. They are going to be paid on what their market value is. Jennifer Lawrence did not have the market value of Christian Bale or Bradley Cooper at the time American Hustle was made and she was a supporting character in that movie while they were the stars. On the same hand she is paid more than her male co-stars in almost every other movie because she is the bigger draw than most of her male co-stars in other movies. Plenty of actresses get paid more than males they act with. You get paid based on how big of a draw you are, not on your gender.

2 women wouldn't be paid the same amount if cast for the same role. It's based on their track record, current appeal, budget for overall film, whether it's a niche audience or a broad audience, and hopefully, their talent, etc.
@s.kamment7794

Interesting that objections to "feminist" topics are coming from male commenters, or from those with handles that don't reveal the person's gender or race (hiding?). Pay disparity is a very important issue, especially to those who are on the losing end of it, whether it's due to gender, sexual orientation or race. It's an elephant in the room of any business discussion, so these executives should not dance around it or avoid it. Those who have an advantage, especially when unearned, don't want to confront it or admit it's wrong for fear of losing it.
