I really like the honesty. I take it as inspiration to make my own production rather than wait for the golden ticket. Great advice. Too many people sadly don't realize this.

It's not that easy. You need actors still and say like you do make your own. What network are you going to take it. How are you going to market it, etc? she not saying wait for the Golden ticket. She's saying you can't do it on your own IF YOU TRYING TO BREAK INTO HOLLYWOOD. Now if you just doing it for fun ok cool make your own. A nameless nobody who nobody doesn't know not going to break into Hollywood. Actress, actors, writers, etc. It took them a long time to become an A list

I hear ya, Alex. However, don’t look at how far you have to go. Just keep moving toward it. Day by day, inch by inch. At some point you’ll be able to turn around and see how far you’ve come…even if it’s not where you want to be it’ll be better than you were at the start.

Remember Alex: Powerful people in Hollywood want you to relocate as a convenience for them, but there are talented people all around you! In your town and province! Be a Tarentino, a Cameron, a Spielberg! Build Hollywood exactly where you are and when you all are ready -- all of you make your way together to Hollywood. And then others will relocate, as a convenience to you.

They gathered writers actors and cinematographers around them whom had talent and they funded each others projects. Spielberg met a young jazz composer Johnny Williams...

She's talking about Hollywood specifically. But surely your country has a film industry - you need to make connections with them. Actually her advice is true in all aspects of life. Humans can do greater things when we connect with each other. No man is an island :)

The advice works in most fields. Out of ten mediocre people, the one with a recommendation will get the job most of the times. Instead of getting angry, just realize that for most jobs, people are completely interchangeable and inconsequential. If there truly was something special about you, people would have noticed by now and you wouldn't be on youtube looking at advice videos.

so true.I've tried to help neophyte fiction writers from time to time (I've been making my living as a novelist for a decade) and they always pose hopeful questions like "why does the world need your writing?" (aka, let me tell you why the world need MY writing.) They hate me when I say "it doesn't. Could have been someone other than me selling their books instead of me selling mine. The world needs SOME writing, yes, I believe that. But me personally? pffft. It doesn't." I'm not all that special in my worldview or insights. My only "special" quality is that I'm willing to work my butt off, including for years of not making much money before success came. I'm dogged. Otherwise, I'm just another person. Best of luck to you in your writing career. Being practical and hard-nosed about such things will serve you well.
