Writing this as I watch the video, to keep up with the routine. 1. First thing I noticed, and a lot of judges will notice, are rifle angles. Notice how the right guard does not have her forearm parallel with the ground, thereby keeping the rifle at a nice 45 degree angle. Later on in the video this trend switches between guards. 2. Be sure to adjust the flag harnesses so that both flags are of equal height. 3. Going into that first wheel, the team speeds up tremendously. A lot of teams do this for some reason. Your cadence should be a constant speed of 100-120 beats per minute. Never speed up. Notice also the interval coming out of the wheel, as the left guard is noticeably father away from the team. Looking at the team from the rear, you can also notice the right guard's rifle is tilting and not perpendicular to her body. Both guards need to pin their elbows to their side to prevent this from happening, as well as preventing the rifle from swaying as they march. 4. Arm swing is also an issue. Always swing directly forward and rearward, and never directly in front of or behind your body, keeping your arm straight and never bending at the elbows. 5. There's no reason for the guards to halt when in line with the team after post is called. Just take that extra step and eliminate any unnecessary movements. Guards really need to work on their synchronization with sling/unsling. None of the movements are really separated and are mushed together. The end result is an unorganized and rushed movement. 6. Colors, Salute is not a command. May not be your fault if it's on the drill card, but it does not exist in any manual. 7. Both of the guards appear to be flaring their hands when at Present Arms. Always fully grasp your weapon. 8. Colors Reverse is also rushed. I've already addressed the speed issue. 9. Can't tell if the commander called Order Arms, or Order Colors... be sure it's the latter. 10. Really confused why the commander called Present Arms correctly at the end, but not at the beginning. 11. Guards seem to be unsure how many steps to take when casing, and when to drop their hands. Just a lot of little inconsistencies that if given more attention could really make the team sharper. Please take these critiques as constructive criticism and realize these are not intended to be hostile remarks. Genuinely I want your team to improve and these tips should help you take a step in the right direction. Continue to improve, and read your manuals constantly to stay knowledgeable. Take care.
